The forts in ESO are exactly like this. It's pretty cool when you're in the middle of a giant battle around them.

Kick the drawbridge winch to get a quick path back to the bonfire.

Showed this to my 7yo who was excited to learn of murder holes, but thought it best to let the latrine fill up. True to type, he wouldn't even flush a hole in the floor.
