That'd be the least problematic ingredient, asbestos is perfectly harmless when ingested. Only breathing the fibres in would cause lung damage, which may lead to cancer.

Fun time to remind people, you used to be able to buy Laudanum over-the-counter. For those who don't know their classical medicine, or only recognize it from Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's typically 10% OPIUM per bottle.
Laudanum? Amateurs.
Fun Fact: It was cheaper than liquor for a time, despite being a mixture of alcohol and opium, because it was classified as a medicine and exempt from a punitive liquor tax.
... this led to an explosion in laudanum abuse in Britain.
Sounds similar to the situation in Northern Europe: alcohol is taxed like crazy, it is much cheaper to get a prescription drug.
Well it would treat pretty much every symptom I guess. With a slight side effect of opioid addiction, no biggie right?

Fun fact: heroin is actually an excellent cough suppressant, legitimately.
