Explanation: After torturing an American POW after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Japanese cabinet and Emperor were convinced that the US had 100 atomic bombs (we did not) and that further resistance was futile. War Minister Korechika Anami, on the other hand, was an advocate for fighting to death anyway. Insane.

is it a little fucked up that I kind of get it? Just that particular sentiment in a vacuum. I think there are some cultural narratives from non-imperialist places that say extinction is preferable to changing to meet the norms (let alone the justice) of a foreign hostile power.
extra special emphasis on the phrase "in a vacuum" however. this was clearly an unhinged thing for a upper crust war general in an expansionist regime to say.
This is far and away my favorite meme format for insane ramblings and historical ridiculousness. Mostly related to Japan, oddly enough. Huh.
