For the unawares, Hirohito was the 124th emperor of Japan according to traditional succession (assuming no shenanigans happened during the previous 122 successions) and he died in 1989 at the age of 88.
He surrendered to the allies unconditionally and was shielded from warcrime tribunals so that he could act as a figurehead to maintain stability in the occupied region.
He was 88 when he died. He had been Emperor for 63 years.
