I can personally endorse PokeClicker, kept me occupied for at least a year. I will restart because I forgot where I was, oops, and restarting will help me relearn the mechanics. More mechanics unfold as you progress. Takes you through the same plot/location progression as the games. I did use scripts because I was specifically looking for an idle game, not manually grinding the same dungeon 500 times. Sometimes I want a more grindy experience, but PokeClicker wasn't where I went to satisfy that urge.

Not sure if PokeClicker ever explains the stuff most people know, but you do get a tutorial and could progress through the game fresh with nothing.

Got this list from Reddit looking for more games, so sorry that I can only really tell you about one.
