Also, I've heard that every 60 seconds, a minute passes in Africa.

Yeah. I don't know why anyone would be surprised by this. It's crazy that they're actually paying $700 for what amounts to a shitty bedroom and they can't even lock the door or anything because there are no doors. This housing crisis thing is crazy.

there are similar capsule houses in tokyo but they cost only about $200/month

Hostels are similar as well. But they're not intended to be a permanent dwelling. The point is the housing crisis is so bad in this area and other areas like it that somehow this is the best these people can do to survive.

I like how we just made a shitter version of a Japanese capsule hotel.

Someone make a meme about capitalists laughing about commie blocks, and socialists laughing about cappie pods.

25$/night capsule hotels exist.

News: TECH WORKERS LIVING LIKE RATS FOR $700/MONTH

Bit misleading - they were made in a place that doesn’t have a residential building permit. They’re not “not up to code” in the way that the headline makes out.

The department said the pods, situated in Mint Plaza, were illegally installed without a residential building permit.
