WEST COAST BEST COAST!

Cascadia NOW!

In all honesty, it'd probably make more sense to do this at more scale, not to limit it to a few West Coast states. I doubt that those three states are the only ones who disagree with RFK on health policy.

If Oklahoma or whoever is dead set against having vaccine recommendations and doesn't want to have the federal government do that, okay. But it can be done at the state level and incorporate all the states that want to do so as to reduce redundancy.

EDIT: I would kind of like a convention for naming interstate partnerships like this. We tend to use "National" or "US" for federal stuff, but we don't have an established prefix for multi-state-level partnerships.

EDIT2: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_compact has some. Many currently seem to be named after the region or area where they started.

Only Cascadia, y'all do whatever you want but stay off the best coast.

Not Arizona and from what I've seen it will require a prescription here. :(

I'm a healthy 40 year but I would like to get it because I have a 76 year mother in law (she gets vaxxed) living with me and I want to protect her as much as possible.

Cross the border to California. We welcome you

Insurance might not pay if the person doesn't meet CDC guidelines. The $140 cost will probably prevent a lot more vaccinations than the extra pharmacy hoops.

So what is the plan here? To expose all of our healthcare workers and risk an immediate collapse of the system? Current policy is every symptomatic worker stay home for 10 days. If half a hospital is out sick what would that look like?

What if there’s another COVID mutation, for the worse?

And what about the flu? It remains a wild card. The incredible ability of flu to mutate is why there isn’t 1 vaccine. The yearly shot isn’t for 1 flu but several. The virus continues to mutate across its strains, and we get another shot the next year.

There’s a reason flu is popular for apocalypse books. The Stand, Station Eleven, etc. Because mass casualty scenarios with flu are plausible.

Maybe a coronavirus was the plan for killing off the plebs when they finished hooking up LLMs to the means of production and didn’t need us anymore.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

On one hand, LLMs won't actually be able to do that.

On the other hand, they might think they can.

The flu vaccine sucks though. It’s their best guess as to which strains will be prevalent. Sometimes they guess wrong and life sucks anyway. At least COVID was more targeted.

Maybe COVID vaccine sucks now too since it seems to be less lethal with more strains now.
