And that’s basically it!
Because being first is better than being intelligent. Or alive.
I mean if they chose to stay within their borders and die, I'd be perfectly fine with that and would actually support it.
But they're going to cross borders and infect us. That's basically a hostile act.
This is going end tragically for an unthinkable number of children and immunocompromised adults.
Yup.
The Republican party are enemies of the people of the United States of America.
that's the point.
Sounds like Florida is pulling ahead of Texas in their race to the bottom.
These deaths are going to be a lot harder to hide.
Make Iron Lungs Great Again
MILGA? it doesn't have the same ring to it, but with some work ...
Well to quote a famous Iowan:
Let them die...
No idiot would make this decision. I don't think hitler was even this dumb. Science is real and works. Vaccines, medicines works. Trump and his friends have hidden agenda. Something is brewing in USA.
Trump and his friends have hidden agenda.
Donald Trump isn't a smart man and he has some very concerning beliefs. I mean we know for a fact that Trump slept/sleeps with a copy of Hitler's Speeches in his bedside drawer. He admitted that himself. He also has some very strange views on exercise, claiming the human body is like a battery and too much exercise can kill you. He tweeted that he believes vaccines cause Autism.
A lot of political positions have some weird fucking ideas on health and science, even the "normal" ones (Look up Posadism, right now, drop whatever you are doing and look it up right now, it's ducktits bonkers), but the Right are the ones who are most infamous for them. I mean the basis for OG Nazism involved Supermen with high technology coming to Earth on an Ice Ball (no seriously), but you also have ideas popular on the right like:
- Socioeconomic factors for health are overblown or non existent (popular with conservatives and libertarians).
- HIV doesn't cause AIDS/HIV-AIDS doesn't exist/Was made in a lab (Founder of GB news and Epistein book alum Andrew Neil believes this).
- Immuno-comprimised people deserve to die as to not inconvenience them, personally (popular during Covid).
- Vaccines cause Autism.
- Gender identity doesn't exist and trans and nonbinary people are sexual perverts who should be killed (if AMAB or Intersex) or "Brought back to woman hood to save their wombs" (if AFAB, yes, sounds like a handmaid's tale).
- Intersex people don't exist/don't deserve to live.
- Contraception is wrong/doesn't work and should be banned.
- Fertilised Human Eggs are instantly Sentient and Sapient.
- Menstruation is a disorder (yes, you heard that) caused by toxins.
- Faith Healing.
- That certain races have superpowers.
- That the world is ~6000 years old and the bible is right.
- That Mobile Phones or phone masts cause Cancer/Autism/Covid.
- That chemical reactions in people's guts cause Autism.
- That Autism can be cured.
- That Queerness can be cured.
- That eating raw meat or dairy products is good for you.
And many more.
Now I am going to also say that alongside insanity, there's a more "rational"/Machiavellian reason for them doing things like getting rid of vaccines and that is the following:
- They don't pay anything to help anyone. Generally they believe the state is there to keep the underlings in line, not help them.
- They think that actual healthcare should only be accessible to those who can pay for it, especially if it's out of reach for the average person and thus is for the "elite".
- If people are sick, they will have to spend large amounts of money, meaning they can extract even more labour from them to enrich themselves. If they can't, well, they die and aren't a "problem" for them.
The reason why Trump and his ilk having these beliefs are the following:
- They're sociopaths who love the idea of NeoFeudalism more than a British MP enjoys Cocaine.
- They're not very bright.
Autism can be cured.
We now have a working theory on how autism develops — a genetic predisposition allowing malfunction in cell danger response — and an almost miraculous clinical treatment for it in children that is currently undergoing trials.
https://www.autismparentingmagazine.com/autism-suramin-evolution/
Unsurprisingly the cause and treatment are completely unrelated to the Right’s insane and dangerous conspiracy theories.

Oh my God this is going to be an ethical minefield the likes of which we have never seen, and I say that as someone who has Autism. Like right now people on the Spectrum, as well as people with conditions like ADHD, are looking at the things RJK Jr is saying not just about Autism but Neurodivergency in general and getting very worried. Like he's saying people on adderal should be sent to labour camps and there should be a national register of Autistic people. Man believes people like me are an existential threat to the country. That's Nazi shit. Straight up fucking Eugenics for Neurodiverse people in general. The idea of an "Autism Cure" like this could very well turn into something we really do not want to see and I think we need to understand that.
Like here's the thing: I'm not one of those "Autism is my Superpower" types. It's an annoying, frustrating, horrible disability that fucks with me everyday in ways even I understand. But while it is horrible, and has fucked me six ways from Sunday, I also have to admit that without it, I would be a vastly different person and not in a good way. Without Autism, I would not have had a history degree, I would not have the hobbies, interests and knowledge I have, I wouldn't have had the impact I have had on the world or the ideas I have had. Fuck, would I be writing this comment if I didn't have the 'tism?
I'll also be honest with you, Autism, while being a disability also likely gave us a lot of people who did a lot of things they wouldn't have otherwise done if they weren't on the spectrum. I might be speculating with a lot of these figures, but Newton, Einstein, Turing, Babbage, Cavendish, Lovelace? What would the world be like if they weren't Autistic? I don't think they would've done a lot of what they had done if they were not. I'm not sure computers would exist without Autistic people, nor do I believe a lot of science and art would exist too.
Also, how are we defining Autism. We go back to the days of Hans Aspberger, who invented a condition to say "yeah, they have the 'Tism, but they're useful"?
It's a bit like if you gave a bigot the ability to wipe and entire group from reality and they chose gay people, and then suddenly they notice the phone in their pocket has disappeared and there's no internet.
I agree. I have autism and ADHD, but I’m old, so I’m not sure this treatment would do anything for me, and it certainly wouldn’t erase the life I’ve already lived. But I would still like for younger generations have this as an option. their futures haven’t been written yet, and everyone deserves the opportunity to choose their own path. Autism is a part of who I am, but I am not about to force that on others who have the opportunity and desire to live their own life differently.
malfunction
Ehhh... Maybe it just functions differently. Not really big on the negative connotation there.
The world would be a much more boring place without our autistic friend. They don't need a fucking "cure."
Tell that to the people who aren't able to function on their own or lead a normal life
No, the CDR is a phenomenon that appears to be a major contributor in numerous detrimental conditions should it become stuck. This includes conditions like insulin resistance and generalized anxiety disorder. We now have evidence that the symptoms that make up “autism” are merely one of the possible results of CDR becoming stuck. Small doses of suramin reset the cellular danger response, allowing them to function normally again. To generalize, it’s as if the body’s cells are stuck in a perpetual panic attack as if they are in danger, even if they are not. This is not a “difference in function” it is a malfunction.
As a dinosaur who also has autism, I don’t think this would do anything for me and I’m not sure I would want to if it could. But nobody is trying to force it on me or you, and depriving others of the ability to choose for themselves is no less monstrous. Acceptance of neurodiversity and treatment of treatable conditions are not mutually exclusive endeavors. So please do better and make your own decisions for yourself while staying out of other peoples lives as they make their own decisions for themselves.
A LOT of people believe the body has a set total of heartbeats.
It kinda does... Not like, literally, but generally? In a statistical, mean time to failure kind of way? It's surprisingly accurate
These people, like always, just take a nugget of truth and use it to come to wild conclusions. Because there's a second, very important factor in this equation - exercise reduces your heart rate
Among mammals, there is an inverse semilogarithmic relation between heart rate and life expectancy. The product of these variables, namely, the number of heart beats/lifetime, should provide a mathematical expression that defines for each species a predetermined number of heart beats in a lifetime. Plots of the calculated number of heart beats/lifetime among mammals against life expectancy and body weight (allometric scale of 0.5 x 10(6)) are, within an order of magnitude, remarkably constant and average 7.3 +/- 5.6 x 10(8) heart beats/lifetime. A study of universal biologic scaling and mortality suggests that the basal energy consumption/body atom per heart beat is the same in all animals (approximately 10(-8) O2 molecules/heart beat). These data yield a mean value of 10 x 10(8) heart beats/lifetime and suggest that life span is predetermined by basic energetics of living cells and that the apparent inverse relation between life span and heart rate reflects an epiphenomenon in which heart rate is a marker of metabolic rate. Thus, the question of whether human life can be extended by cardiac slowing remains moot and most likely will only be resolved by retrospective analyses of large populations, future animal studies and clinical trials using bradycardic therapy.
That sounds like...something an obscure ancient Greek philosopher would claim, leading Diogenes to start chasing him around the room counting down.
People are dumb in groups
Group membership and beliefs carry way more weigh than anything else.
It's part of Project 2025. They need to cull social security recipients. Half of people in Florida are over 42, oldest state in the US. Kids are great at spreading viruses. It's just a version of smallpox blankets used to kill off natives.
Up in Minnesota the only hope I have is that the kids don’t create a national/international crisis when they travel and spread various diseases. We are all in this together.
Well on the plus side it's not like they'll ever be able to afford to travel internationally.
Step one. Step two is make vaccines illegal, Step 3 is send MDs to prison for administration.
Even fascists in other countries aren't this stupid. What do they even want to gain in spreading diseases?
The ideal model of the Fascist economy is get poors to pay taxes and then die when they can't work any more.
There is a ton of fear about vaccines in some areas. I have a feeling some parents are about to learn some lessons in a really terrible way.
See Amish. They won't learn any lessons and just spin death as natural and God's will.
It started out as mostly pandering to their uneducated anti-vax base, but with fascists being in all levels of government now there are more conspiracy theorist true believers in office. So the dumber ones actually believe it, while the less dumb ones use it as a wedge issue to keep support (while being vaccinated themselves).
Even the fucking Nazis and Imperial Japanese understood that vaccines worked.
The Japanese in particular with Unite 731 even developed vaccines for the plague, then tested it by deliberating getting one unvaccinated group infected and another vaccinated group infected. The vaccinated group fared far better than the vaccinated group and had a much higher survivability rating.
Seems like a fast way to completely kill your tourism industry.
DeSantis looks so unhappy
Well yeah, he's next to a person of color. Any racist would be livid if they had to share the same air with someone that is isn't white.
Hearing "who am I to say what you can do with your body" while also making abortion illegal is so infuriating. Like, listen to yourself talk...
This black guy compared mandatory vaccines to slavery
The last time I was visiting my parents in South Carolina we went to a local art faire thing, and one of the stands was a dude selling art of Confederates. Not just any Confederates, Black Confederates. And the dude selling this art, was a older black man in full fucking Confederate uniform. The best part was the massive bread boards he had full of tiny font Confederate apologia that read like a SovCit manifesto.
Don't think the color of a person's skin naturally dictates their opinions on matters that you think it should, people will surprise you every time.
That is genuinely a terrible thing to do as a person of color. Seriously though, people suffered extreme abuse and he is out here saying that getting vaccinated is basically the same.
He and Kanye probably have a lot in common
They should run the KKK
"The rollback could result in fewer school children getting immunized against deadly viruses such as polio and measles."
There is no "could"
What do you expect? The media bowed down to Trump. I didn't think fear of lawsuit would lead to this but here we are.
Florida is truly the Florida of Florida.
