PayPal and Palantir cofounder Peter Thiel is embarking on an unusual intellectual journey this fall—delivering a sold-out four-part lecture series on the biblical figure of the Antichrist. The private lectures, which will be held at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, represent the latest evolution in Thiel’s increasingly public theological interests that intertwine his Christian faith with his concerns about technology’s potential to enable authoritarian control.

What is it with billionaires that they have to go insane? It's like all of them end up like those classic campus bond villains

"his Christian faith"? Is Thiel Christian? Or is he just calling himself that for cultural political reasons, like Peterson and Musk?

(For the record, I am Christian, and I'm constantly horrified at what passes for Christianity in the US.)

Just normal everyday stuff.

Said very calmly as a plague of locusts and frogs descends upon us.

"Why do you ask?" Said as I nonchalantly paint my doorframe in blood to keep the angel of death from crossing my threshold.

I like reading this every now and then, but haven't in 4ish years. It's probably scarier now...

In a few year when he loses his hair, he'll achieve his goal of becoming the real Dr. Evil.

Huh, I didn't know he was planning on release a ghost written autobiography.

Let me guess, is the Antichrist “woke”?

[–] garretble@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Nobody should be getting physically close with anyone attending his talk or trying to interfere with his space. Idk if you've ever had someone try to save your soul from eternal damnation but that's what the megaphone is for.

The goal isn't to do anything other than to call out his hypocrisy and make people realize how lame he is. If people don't care they don't care. If people would rather join other humans having fun and being free to be themselves in God's universe rather than listen to him talk about his universe, they should feel welcome to join.
