I gave up going shopping with partners ages ago.

I don't go with them, they don't come with me.

It's better that way.

[–] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Same. We discuss finances, but my SO does the shopping. Basically, "hey, I spent $X on Y, is that okay?", and then "sure" or "that's a bit much, can you cut it a bit? Our cash is a bit low right now...".

It works well. We spend time together doing things we both like, and don't force the other to spend time doing things we don't.

Honey, get off Lemmy and go scoop the cat litter.

You're there for moral support.

Those dumb phrases and your mere npc-like presence may seem dumb, but you may not be aware that you've got roughly a 3 meter AoE, 25% boost to her max stamina, as well as a -50% to her stamina loss rate going on.

Level up the companionship skill tree a bit more and those buffs might apply to you as well!

Don't forget the charisma boost from the enhanced confidence and the new costumes.

I didn't want to overwhelm this n00b with too much detail right off the bat, ahahah!

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Isnt party XP distributed a bit unequally though?

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 week ago

Depends on your loot splitting schema, how far into and what specific branches they've gone down in the companionship tree, their own specific character builds... etc etc.

[–] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

You joke but that's pretty much how my wife views it. She has to go shopping for herself once in a while, but she loathes the task, so here I come for moral support.

And now I'm thinking NPCs really could use having some more compliments in their vocabulary. Like, it would be nice if my color coordination efforts at the cost of stats was recognized, you know?

Now this is a nice quality comment!

Don't forget about carrying all the loot that doesn't fit in their inventory!

[–] Hubi@feddit.org 52 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I am sworn to carry your burdens.

It will be even easier to carry the loot since you'll be dropping weight from your coin purse

Just need to find the chair at every stop.

[–] wdx@feddit.org 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

every store should have a Husband / Boyfriend Deposit Area

As a husband/boyfriend, I concur. I'm happy to help carry crap between stores and go to lunch together, but I'm not down to stand by while my SO weighs the pros and cons of two slightly different scents.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 week ago

Those guys must be exhausted. They seem to design those sorts of chairs with the idea that they don't want people to sit on them for very long.

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

This is the way

[–] fibojoly@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

I remember a clothes shop in China having a little area for male companions to wait in comfort and I thought that was the most delightful attention ever!

At least you give her extra inventory slots, that's something!

[–] chatokun@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago

Ahh, my FO4 companions.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 42 points 1 week ago

Ive done this to my grandmother but slightly more unhinged, because I quote random video game lines. I once said "Now about that beer I owe you." And heard someone on the other side of the antique store shout " Fuck off Barney from Black Mesa." I will inflict psychic damage on people.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 40 points 1 week ago (2 children)

A couple weeks ago, I was like that when suddenly my wife ask me "Driving Crooner! What are you doing?? That's not our shopping car!!" at some moment I grabbed someone else shopping car and started rolling without noticing that my wife had ours already. Luckily the owner of that car was as mindless as me and didn't notice it was missing for a minute.

[–] naught@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

don't trust her she's TRYING TO RUIN IT FUUUUUCK

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

SHE'S TRYING TO STEAL THE DECALS!!!

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 11 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You say car where you are? I thought it was cart.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 8 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I guess is "carrito" in Portuguese, but I'm not entirely sure. I live in Brazil but neither Portuguese or English are my first languages.

[–] squirrel@lemmy.eco.br 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's "carrinho de compras" ou "carrinho de mercado", we don't really have a word for cart.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What do you call the Mario racing game?

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 1 week ago

Mario Carchi

[–] Cybersec@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago

Picking up garbage to give to the PC who is always totally unimpressed with your finds.

[–] 2piradians@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

One of the many reasons I love my girl is that she's not that type of shopper. For that matter we don't take each other shopping at all and we both prefer it that way.

I kind of like seeing what my partner is excited about. So it's usually not a bad experience.

[–] ngwoo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

She pulls the mobs and I DPS them

[–] mrregina@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I prefer to stay in the car. Less chance of anyone getting hurt. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
