Reminds me of one time I had a 7am meeting I was supposed to run and woke up nice and rested at 8 30. It was a special feeling when it slowly dawned on me that it was light outside and I checked the time.
There are few things as athletic as the flying leap you do out of bed when it strikes you that you feel too good for a weeknight and check the time
The "feel too good" part is real. Bliss turns into instant terror
Whoever came up with the concept of time and alarms, I hope they are suffering for it eternally!
Time was invented by clock companies to sell more clocks.
Big Clock. Go suck it!
Your boss: Yeah, that is stupid. The working day should end when I say so!
I live in a student neighbourhood and when we moved here I thought, "Well my partner and I are still in our 30s and don't have a family; we'll be up drinking at the same times the students are."
I was so wrong. GenZ are strange - they don't go out like we used to, and instead have early morning alarms for the gym. It's a coinflip whether the alarm will wake them up though, sometimes their 6AM alarm is going for several hours and others you hear them get up.
Could be worse I guess but now I feel bad having my lame middle aged friends back to the flat after the pubs close.
I dont understand the alarm thing. My sister did that when I was a kid, extra loud alarm 6 inches from her face and she sleeps right through it. I dont understand how its even possible.
Living a healthy lifestyle must give you superhuman abilities to get a good night's sleep. Can only speculate since I've never been in that situation personally.
I did this the other day and just said fuck it. Took the day off. Told the kids they don't have to go to school either. We just gamed all day and ate sushi and pizza.
Adopt me.
At this rate of adoption, have you considered a clan?
You'll have to come to Okinawa to join!
Me too. Please.
I have 7 alarms for this reason. Typically by the third alarm I'm starting to get out of bed
First week starting a new job. My sleep schedule was absolute garbage before.
The 3rd day I accidentally hit “stop” instead of “snooze” on my alarm. Woke up at 11am (start time was 9am).
Luckily they didn’t fire me. But my coworkers all thought I was an alcoholic for the next few months. Fun times…
What sort of job was it? When I was younger I did this data entry job as a temp.
Called out sick my second day. Then just... carried on working there.
How did they go straight to alcoholic? Feels like a jump
That's why I set up 2 alarms.
2? I do 10, so it takes me at least 30 seconds to turn them all off.
Yup, one on the watch and one on the phone.
I'm also considering adding a third, dumb alarm clock so that I'm not relying on Android-powered devices to wake me up reliably every morning. Sometimes I forget to charge them, you know?
I have literally 5 alarms, all with different ring tones. Cell phones have changed my life.
Just ADHD things
Itsa me Maaaa ...... ???? ..... HOLY FUCKING SHIT I SLEPT THROUGH MY ALARM!!!!!!!
I hate that instant click in your brain where you go "SHITTTTT!!!" and start running to get ready.
Just a terrible feeling for the rest of the day.
Especially when it's your day off but your brain doesn't immediately realize that. Then you're stuck wide awake and can't get back to sleep.
Being jumpscared awake feels so terrible, I think it it might actually shave years off your life expectancy
well it's either that or stare at a wall for 40 minutes instead of getting ready
I’m staring at the wall on the inside of my eyelids. taps temple
Did this this morning. Mistake.
How good was that extra little bit of sleep, though?
Glorious tbf
have you tried "not sleeping"?
Going to bed at adequate time helps tremendously.
Waking up early still feels pretty shitty though, at least in the first hour. I sleep at 8PM and get up at around 4AM, so a full 8 hours, but it's still possible for me to just fall asleep again and wake up at 6AM. It is not that I prefer sleeping for 10 hours either, because I usually have a mild headache during the days in which I overslept, and if I sleep at 10PM I wake up at 6AM feeling pretty normal. My guess is that this may be because of the lack of light earlier in the morning, but who knows.
I've been looking into daylight simulation alarms just to test this, but I feel like they're a lot more expensive than they should be as LED lights on a timer (60USD).
