Serene bokeh (possibly A.I. generated) photo of tree branches and sparse fall leaves with the setting sun behind them. Cursive stylized text reads "Inflation isn't real; Make things cheaper or I will simply steal them"

Inflation is just price gouging that everyone is doing.

That's the root cause but many people refuse to do basics such as substitution or foregoing consumption where possible.

Examples such beef and vacations.

Also, such thing as outright needless consumption like excessive clothing.

At least second hand markets have picked up so certain groups are willing to adjust but critical math has not been hot yet.

With that being said, rent, health insurance, transportation is one of them things... Where they really did corner the peasants.

Unfortunate that stuff like housing and healthcare are among the more difficult to steal

Nah, they just need bigger numbers in solidarity. Good thing they've got us running scared, though. Whew.

Squats were decently common until the government started treating them like terrorists.

However, if lots of people decide all at once to squat, it becomes far harder to enforcez

Everything is worth what it's purchaser will (or won't) pay for it.

Pubilius Syrus, with a little modernization by me.

Lol I love it.

Not super related, but your comment got me thinking. People often ask "But what if you get caught? Is it really worth thousands in fines and months in prison?" but most career criminals would still come out ahead if you weigh the loss of getting caught once against the gains over their whole career

An economic collapse is a collapse of a system of coordination and incentives. This one doesnt seem to keep its feet remotely under it for more than a couple yesrs at a time

The actual production needn't be effected. Your having shit certainly shouldn't be.

Edit: The fact they are is a failure of imagination and will. If you starve to death in an artificial famine, you have committed suicide for the glory of your masters.
