Hello! I am currently discovering the Metroid games, started with dread and slowly playing though the games now. Right now I am playing zero mission on retroarch.

Next game will be Metroid two. I have already played samus returns on emulator some time back and don't remember too much, and think AM2R could work nicely for me.

But it's been taken down, right? So where can I play it and what do you think about it?

It's pretty easy to find. Like on archive.org for instance: https://archive.org/details/am-2-r

I remember enjoying AM2R more than Samus Returns if only because it doesn't have that weird execution system. And it was easy to configure it to play more like the GBA games, which is a plus.

I hated Samus Returns. I actually sold it right after I beat it. I don't know who in their right mind thinks Samus needs a parry.

Have you played dread? I think they worked the party into that a lot better than Samus returns. It's mechanically very similar but the enemy AI and refined movement make it work better imo

I liked dread okay. It was was better than Samus Returns, but I still don't like the parry.
