I mean, I do agree that what Israel is currently doing is worse than what China is doing, but being less violent than an active war zone doesn't really mean much when you're both committing genocide. Absolutely unhinged opinion

As a largely unengaged Lemmy lurker, y'all need to take a chill pill, this feels like an excerpt of the red scare. Picking a fight with the anarchist techies because one dude has an opinion that's not even unhinged, about something that most of us here cant even talk about with any certainty.....come on.

This whole thing is actually overblown and misrepresented.

Why make two threads? Both are missing most of the convo. I don't think what he is saying is right but he does clarify his position right after.

off-topic shill post:

if you're using piefed, you can see all conversation across fedi for any crosspost, and comment on any of the individual posts from the same page.

Why make two threads?

Because each time something new and horrific was said? The two threads weren't made at the same time, and I wasn't aware that Unruffled was going to skip from 'defending Uyghur genocide denial' to 'being an Uyghur genocide denier' when I made the first one.

I don’t think what he is saying is right but he does clarify his position right after.

By 'clarify' you mean 'directly contradict'?

If someone dismisses genocide, then, after being called out on it, half-assedly walks it back, which is the sincere position?

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Fair enough but personally, I do think you should let things settle a bit before making threads on them. When I commented, I was under the impression you reposted because the other one got downvoted.

I agree on your impression of the whole of it though. Not sure why he had to put quotes around the word genocide for instance.

...yeah. I blocked that whole instance a week or two ago. c/Piracy just isn't worth it. Also, never liked that Unruffled person all that much, and I really don't like them after this ""It's only genocide if I can blame the US - otherwise it's just 'Sparkling Crimes Against Humanity'" 🙄

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

you didn't block that instance a couple weeks ago, because I banned you a few days ago for doing nothing but downvoting every single post in !libjerk@lemmy.dbzer0.com without ever commenting.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a bannable offense?

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

it is when we think it's funny.

That's certainly... something.

[–] Hatsune_Miku@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

predictable tankie behavior

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 10 points 1 week ago (4 children)

it should be noted that the above account is an IDF propaganda account, so they absolutely do not consider the genocide in Gaza to be a genocide.

Illogical arguments that assume that there's some collective Western authority I.e. propaganda ministry that is at play here. Many individual journalists and historians have studied this topic. There's nothing to deny here, even credible sources have confirmed that China accepts the existence of education camps.
