It is ethical for someone to act in their own self-interest. With that in, the ethical choice is to pick the runway. Gotta get a higher score,

And you usually have a better chance using a runway, even during a crash

Hit the 5 on the runway. Because the farmer om the runway is doing nothing wrong hes chilling but the 5 farmers on the runway shouldn't be there and so the blame is on them.

This, even though if we're really gonna crash, a field is preferred to a runway since it is softer and has more means of dissipating energy. Sometimes you have to be brave and make sscrifices to punish the guilty.

why are 5 farmers on a runway

According to your screenshot they are in a field, presumably near the runway.

What? According to the screenshot, there's one farmer in the field, and five on the runway. Or, at least, one near a field and five near a runway, but it definitely doesn't say there are five farmers in a field.

Even if the plane can steer and choose to hit either of the two "groups", they have to be physically near one another. The runway must be right at the field, which implies it being a route the farmers take to get to their fields.

Right, because planes can only crash in tiny areas directly near them and it's impossible for a disabled aircraft to glide for large distances. And there couldn't be a situation in which the plane is flying over a city and has to choose between a field and a runway which are on opposite sides of town. Possibly a field with one guy working in it which is further away and a runway at an old landing strip which is now hosting an antique tractor show with five attendees that is closer to the plane.

You make it sound like the plane is driving down the highway with no wings.

Wait, this seems to be a matter of different perspectives.

It depends on how far they are from crashing, when they have to make the decision.

You seem to have the plane at more distance, with them having more time to access the situation and decide in time if they hit place A or B.

In my head, i was seeing them about to crash in a few hot seconds, when they had to decide.

If there's a flight attendant running around asking opinions, I'd say they've got plenty of altitude

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I was going to ask "5 what on the runway?"

Yes, units are important.
