This is a direct admission that Trump is gonna die soon

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 41 points 2 months ago (6 children)

Evil people always last longer than you think. I'm not sure whether Trump is actually evil or the evil is a byproduct of extreme narcissism combined with staggering stupidity.

I heard a theory the other day that the thing that makes Trump Trump is that he speaks on a fourth grade level because he's just that dumb. He politically engages people who are too ignorant and disinterested in politics to do more than check Trump's name and ignore other Republican candidates. I saw it here in my own state where was something like an 800k vote discrepancy between Trump and conservative Supreme Court candidates. It's why districts that Trump won by double digits flip hard for Dems in special election's and non-presidential elections.

What that means is, when Trump dies, the Republican Party is pretty much fucked if they haven't achieved full on fascism by then. I'm not smart enough to know whether that theory is correct, but I really want it to be.

Hitler died at 56. Mussolini was 61.

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To be fair, neither of those deaths were "natural causes" as it were.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 months ago

Dunno what you mean. Hitler's brain naturally stopped working due to high speed application of external force. Mussolini's brain stopped working due to a natural oxygen shortage.

Real ubermensch have titanium skulls and aren't addicted to oxygen.

Fingers crossed! JD will not be as batshit. He wants to keep the job and not get bounced from the top spot next election.

[–] grte@lemmy.ca 120 points 2 months ago (8 children)

JD will not be as batshit.

Considering his connections to Peter Thiel I'm not so sure about that. But what matters is that he won't be able to wield the cult of personality that has formed around Trump the way Trump can.

[–] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 59 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Exactly.

JD is scary due to the thiel connection.

He's very unlikable though imo. He doesn't have the charisma trump has (not genuine charisma, but like an arrogant bullying charisma that MAGA is attracted to). Hopefully this alone would work against him.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 43 points 2 months ago (1 children)

He basically radiates the Jeb Bush please clap awkwardness at all times.

This, this, this! Trump attracts people in a unique way, the same way that Hitler attracted people. Vance doesn't have that charisma. His ascension would fracture the party. There's folks who are willing to buck him, not Trump. It is the best shot we have at normalcy.

JD also doesn't have as much of the crazy vote. Some people find trump charismatic, and find he can do no wrong, while JD chaises that charisma while lounging on the couch like a Lay-z-boy.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I don't think MAGA holds Vance in the cult-likenregard they hold trump.

He’s still batshit, just in a better-tailored suit.

The good news is the MAGA crowd don’t have fanatical loyalty to him.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What?

JD and his wife were groomed to be the Republican version of the Clinton's...

They were literally set up by the "Tiger Mom" who's an ivy league law professor, then the wife was given SC clerkships.

They are 1000x more dangerous than trump, in no small part because they won't be as blatant.

One last grift: on his deathbed, Trump received the light of Islam and unhesitatingly recited the Shahāda

Yes, but the fact he feels the need to say this aloud means it’s on his mind, and that’s potentially good news.

🤞

Wishing Mr. Vance a speedy transition to power. Preferably like, tonight.

Wishing for the rest of the world he has a speedy transition right back out of power. Preferably like, very slightly later, also tonight.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Just a quick reminder that the next person in the line to become president after the Vice President and the President are no longer able to perform the job is the Speaker of the House.

I thereby direct you to take a look at who the Speaker of the House is currently.

It's shit heads all the way down.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

It is very unlikely to ever get to the speaker. Everyone in the line doesn't move up one. If trump dies, vance becomes president but Johnson doesn't suddenly ascend to vp. Vance selects a new vp that I believe needs senate confirmation.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Not really. Trump and Vance would have to both die at essentially the same time for the role to be given to the speaker. In any other situation, Vance would become president and then nominate a new VP.

[–] sad_detective_man@leminal.space 48 points 2 months ago

it's his turn 🙏

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 42 points 2 months ago (3 children)

“The president is in incredibly good health,” Vance insisted to USA Today. “He’s got incredible energy.”

And these assholes wanted to "investigate" the Democrats for saying this kind of thing about Biden? At least I've seen Biden ride a bike. Having a golf cart shuttle you around on a course ain't anything.

I'd love to see mr. "incredible energy" try to ride a bike right now, LOL.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I would not be surprised at all if Trump never learned how to ride a bike or swim.

Hint here could go one of two ways. First is that Trump's health is fully expected to fail soon. The second is that Peter Thiel would see Vance as being less of a problem to control, and would tell Vance to pull the trigger on the 25th amendment regardless of Trump's actual health.

That said, this article is a bit overblown. Vance was asked about the President's health, and gave a pretty standard line any VP would say in the same position.

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

would tell Vance to pull the trigger on the 25th amendment

The GOP need Trump to keep the rabid racists cooperating. That's their messiah.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You and I know that. Thiel and Vance might think they can control MAGA without Trump. They're wrong, but that's never stopped them before.

LOL that fat fuck Vance has zero charisma, therefore will not be POTUS. Americans want a celebrity.

[–] ToastedRavioli@midwest.social 19 points 2 months ago

Thats why he had to put himself next in line, because he could never win himself. Hes gonna do Trump like he did the Pope

Vance is going to be hoping that the orange cyst holds on for a bit longer. Isn't the rule that if he serves more than two years of a term it counts as his first term, so he could (theoretically) only serve one more term?

I realise that minor trivialities like term limits are usually of little concern to them, but he doesn't seem to command the same absolute loyalty as the pustulent one, and so is more likely to be shoved aside.
