Might be worth mentioning that we've had the "Are you American enough to live here?" test for a long, long while. Trumps (re)weaponizing it in order to ethnically cleanse the population. But we've spent every spare minute since the end of the Cold War waging a pogrom on The Wrong Kind Of Migrants. Wish we'd had a party willing to advance comprehensive immigration and naturalization reform back in 2009 or 2021, when the liberal majority was able to do something. As long as corporations or wealthy business owners are able to turn a profit from exploiting migrants, that will never happen. The people with the power (money) to change politicians' minds are against anything that would hurt their own interests.

Marco Rubio’s State Department is doing what it can to filter out people who might be opposed to Trump and/or his policies. Applicants for visas now must subject themselves to vetting that includes deep dives into their social media accounts to sniff out anything slightly smelling of anti-Trump animus.
