Man, I hate that I know this one. The scene where neo walks up and scares cypher? He's working on an auto-jack script to manage operator duties and building an escape plan. Before he turns off the screens there's also blueprints for the building where the group is later ambushed displayed, further implying he was plotting at that moment.

Edit - Operators are for when shit hits the fan to run support and adapt to the situation. The act of loading people in and out can be automated as long as there's no crazy variables to account for, like agents crashing the party.

I hate that I know this one

Why

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 33 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Because it's one of those useless obscure trivia things occupying valuable space in my memory banks. The Wachowskis could have done a better job establishing why Cypher was startled and this guy could focus on his anniversary.

Like how they accidentally threw Kevins plane ticket away when the Pepsi was spilled in Home Alone.

[–] falidorn@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wouldn’t it still be in your memory banks even if it was established well?

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, but then it would be something well known and not an indication of being interested in minutiae. Something that is often mocked in social situations.

You should invest heavily in matrix trivia and sale your skill to local bars having trivia nights

But that's prime sitting alone in my underwear in a decrepit den-like apartment reading fan wikis time!

He jacked himself off! Or got a computer to jack him off. Maybe he wrote a script that just automatically jacked him off after dinner.

Or maybe Agent Smith... Or perhaps three or four Agent Smiths all claiming to be Italian brothers jacked him off in a changing room... just to make sure he got out.

I reckon you could do it is all I'm saying.

Say "jacked him off" one more time.

Maybe one of the Agent Smiths takes on the form of Hugh Jackman, and they all call him "The Strong Brother" and he lets you rub his back (which is really well muscled)...

And him, and Hugo Weaving's three characters all:

Hugh you off.

Wait, what were we talking about?

[–] swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

Hm, would it be "Agents Smith" in this case?

[–] MeatPilot@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

You beat me to it. If only I came quicker, I wouldn't have to take it on the chin. Now I'm beating myself up about it.

It's in his name. He put a cipher in the code to automate jacking in. Then just had an exit code on a timer. 2 hours is enough time to get in, have a steak, then get out.

Ignorance is bliss.

[–] HumanoidTyphoon@quokk.au 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why is no one talking about that poor woman’s anniversary?!?!

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That woman doesn't exist ... she's just a construct of the Matrix that the man is living in

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 8 points 1 day ago

"You know, I know this woman doesn't exist. I know that when I hold her in my arms the Matrix is telling my brain that it is warm and soft. After nine years, you know what I realize? Ignorance is bliss" - Cypher

He wrote an automation script to do it

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 10 points 1 day ago

Dude WAS an operator.

[–] WhiteOakBayou@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

He automated his job but didn't tell his bosses so he'd have more time to screw around. I'm not big on betraying humanity but ....
