Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

So, is Saddam Hussein fetish acceptable or not?

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 16 points 2 days ago

Per the chart, it's not acceptable but hey, it's your Saddam Hussein fetish

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

about as much as necrophilia

[–] SnekZone@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 3 days ago

I was just thinking it

[–] Arkhive@piefed.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 days ago

Exactly what I was going to do if someone hadn’t already

[–] ToastedPlanet@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Are people still hung up on foot fetishes? That's like the tip of the ice berg. I assumed making fun of foot fetishes would be the first step, but we seem to be running in place here. The cultural Zeitgeist never seemed to move on.

I guess we will have a collective Fetish cinematic universe style discovery at some point where people realize you can have a fetish about anything. I never expected to super heroes to popular ever. Now I'm convinced everything will be popular eventually.

A lot of the public seem to have a strange and passionate hatred for feet

Tails are better. 🧜‍♀️🧞‍♀️ But I do find the public hatred for feet to be strange. Maybe too many stubbed toes? 🤷‍♀️

I think it's moreso that it's a common fetish while still being in the odd category due to the fact that feet by themselves are just not sexual to most people. Like there are weirder sexual things that are about as common if not more common but have an explicit sexual element to it. To use clothing as a comparison it'd be like someone getting excited by someone in best up work clothes vs someone getting excited by lingerie.

that feet by themselves are just not sexual to most people.

That makes sense.

To use clothing as a comparison it’d be like someone getting excited by someone in best up work clothes vs someone getting excited by lingerie.

I'm in this example.blobcat, peek

Yeah to me if people didn't actually get off on feet I'd think it was a really clever absurd thing like someone having a back of ears fetish. But not only do people get off on feet, it's downright common.

And like therein lies the thing. It's not only kinda weird that its as much of a thing as it is, it's also a fetish with way less baggage or room to be understood by those without it than other common fetishes. Like, pain is visceral whether you like it ir hate it. Different body types are possessed by folks all around us. But feet, feels like someone who's favorite part of the pizza is the crust.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Idk, maybe it's me being more of a tit girl, but I've got more respect for the feet people than the shin people. Knee people are between them. But yeah thigh and calf are as normal as we are.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Some people like the part of the leg that goes to the ass. Others like the part that steps in the grass.

Ah yes my knee fetish is much more refined than those barbarians with heel fetish. Suck it loosers.

And by it I mean heheh let's just say my knee

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i would argue the back of the knee is especially unrespectable

[–] Redjard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

it's the most shameful of all -ussies

[–] djsoren19@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

hey let's not shit on foot fetishists too hard, I need them to keep paying me for femboy feet pics.

Show me someone who gets going over calves specifically

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

As someone with really nice calves, yeah it's downright common. That's why skinny jeans got popular.

[–] __Lost__@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's why high heels were created, to make men's calves look sexier

[–] EmptySlime@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

Wait... So it wasn't to make having sex with their horses easier? I've been lied to!

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Possibly tmi, sorry in advance. Nice calves (and forearms) are absolutely my thing. I tend to look at both on men and only women’s calves, because I mainly look for a nice musculature/bulk. I have seen some lumberjanes who are exceptions, but that type of work creates a pretty extreme divergence from standard physiques.

I used to do 15 hours of dance a week and now I walk everywhere and work on my feet, so my own calves are my favorite body part. My husband is a pretty big guy and he works as a butcher, so his forearms are huge- they look like Gaston’s from beauty and the beast and we call them his ham hocks.

I wouldn’t say it’s a fetish, because I can definitely be attracted to someone without calves/forearms that appeal to me, but I find myself looking at them about as much as I look at faces and butts and more than anything else.

Reporting in!

I love nice calves. They're sexy as fuck

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Like, more than other body parts?

[–] dharmacurious@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean, more than some other body parts. If a dude is walking down the street I'm gonna notice if he has nice calves. I'm unlikely to notice if he has nice wrists. Lol. But no, it's not like my main focus or a full blown fetish. I just appreciate some nice calves.

My real fetish is ears. Love me some giant, George Bush style monkey ears. Sadly, all my boyfriends complain about getting swimmers ear afterwards D:

Those victorians where wild.

By these standards, I'm a bona fide degenerate❤️

I love both of you!❤️🤣

As an asexual person: it's all fucked to me. Just enjoy whatever gets you going without shame (as long as there's consent and it's not something that potentially impacts living beings who can't consent like kids or animals ofc).

You become even more respectable when the thigh is thicker

[–] mossy_@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

what is this photo. each person seems like they belong in a different stageplay

[–] Apytele@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Just like last time I'm gonna chime in about how my ex with the foot fetish was actually super chill sexually speaking and while he had a loooooot of mental health problems his solid grasp on consent and just general sexual patience really made a big difference for me and how I negotiate my sexual needs with that of all the partners I've had since. He really really needed to get a job and move out of his parents house though. Still hasn't. Jesus that man was a dumpster fire in every other conceivable way.

[–] vzqq@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 days ago

Toes feels more mainstream than the rest of the foot tbh.

[–] yoriaiko@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

Doubt.

I agree to the part of thigh, is loved by most... then I know some with foot fetish, that claims it is ok. But show me anyone but a priest with knee fetish. Ha

[–] Pringles@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I really thought "least respectable" was going to be "Quentin Tarantino"
