If you have pictures of known shoplifters why not scan the faces on the way in? Rather than when paying at the register, which is probably not where the shoplifter will be?

Retail security told me that most shoplifters do actually buy stuff as it's kinda odd to not go to the checkout. They'll either pocket stuff, or skip an item during scanning and pay without it in the shopping.

Just commented, Lowe's catches repeat offenders license plates and pings the manager. They know.

Pretty funny what you can get away with. Put that shit in your cart, walk out, put it in your car/truck, roll, no one will say a word. Drive around the corner, hand it off to an accomplice, take the magnet off your license plate. Unless it was a major heist, they won't even call the cops.
