In the words of Nick Newport from Parks & Rec:

"Fat, happy and docile; the way we like em."

What about Lula? President, went to jail for corruption, banned from holding office. Paid his dues and got freaking re-elected? This is like a telenovella!

[–] Phen@lemmy.eco.br 41 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Not really "paid his dues", but got out because it was proven the judge in his case was colluding with the prosecution and he never had a fair trial.

He was corrupt!

Actually, the judge was!

He was corrupt, just all the proof was nullified cause it was obtained illegally

Didn't know this detail, thank you! But that's even more crazy drama!

Zelador Joao: It won't last. Brothers and sisters are natural enemies! Like Argentinians and Brazillians! Or Uruguayans and Brazillians! Or Paraguayans and Brazillians! Or Brazillians and other Brazillians! Damn Brazillians! They ruined Brazil!
Intendenci Pelador : You Brazillians sure are a contentious people.
Zelador Joao: Fizeste uma enemigo pra sempre!

The American revolution was a civil war.

[–] smeg@feddit.uk 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If you count every time a colony wanted independence as a civil war then you're going to have to move Britain to the bottom panel

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

A minority of the colonists (40%) wanted independence. 20% of colonists opposed independence. A brutal war was fought between them. No less a civil war than in Russia or Ireland.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe that was included in the Britain column.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 3 points 1 month ago

It wasn’t.

Also, 3 major civil wars, one of them exclusively about anti-vaccers rights.

What president are you counting on that self-coup thing?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

40 presidents? There have been 45.
