ONLY ONE OF YOU SHALL PASS!

[–] dunz@feddit.nu 14 points 2 days ago (4 children)

That's a NOR-gate. 'NONE or all of you SHALL PASS' would be correct, which is even dumber than NORdalf 😃

[–] fahfahfahfah@lemmy.billiam.net 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No, NOR is “none of you shall pass”

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

It’s the NORway.

That's a NAND gate (back is flat like the AND, front has the little ball on the output to indicate it's negated). The back of the OR/NOR is curvy.

AND is "Only together shall ye pass" hence NAND is "None or at most one shall pass" (which are the other logical options).

As other pointed out what you're describing is the negation of a XOR (which is "no more and no less than one shall pass"), i.e. XNOR.

OR would be "One or both shall pass" hence NOR would be "None shall pass".

That's XNOR

Lol this would be "You SHALL NOT pass, if BOTH of you passes, otherwise you SHALL PASS as long as one of you DOES NOT"

...which looking back, is actually written more succinctly by the top comment

…which double edit, my comment does identify the limitations of two parties as opposed to a potential of “you” being more than two. so maybe the top comment isn’t perfect, idk, it’s been a long Sunday

Less than all of you shall pass?

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

Lol this gets into the weirdness of my comment and the parent which is that you can’t deal in multiples in a binary gate and English is very vague about if “you” is one or multiple

I know juuuuust enough boolean logic to get this.

[–] dunz@feddit.nu 8 points 2 days ago

I know quite a bit, it's still funny😃

I saw the title first and thought it was gonna be about flatbread or British grandmothers 😄

[–] perishthethought@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That would Naandalf (AI is really something, eh?)

About time I saw a decent slop. Naan approved

The universal gate? Primitive? As essential as carbon, I'd say.
