Reddit/Digg was a link aggregator, so the fact that this platform is often mostly memes shows how little weβre actually engaging with the web as a network of blogs/personal sites/news etc by now in this world of paywalls, blocking adverts, cookie preferences, and age verification. Do actually share cool stuff you find though.

As long as itβs the right people, I donβt really care. Itβs about building community anyway, not consuming it.
This is not a sign of health. It just means that a small amount of people is in control of the narrative. Ironic, considering lemmy and what it proposes to project.
Edit: Yes please, downvote. Lemmy is the digital equivalence of gentrification.
