Reddit is dead. A strange wanna be propaganda machine at this point. Eventually advertisers will realize it's not fertile ground and that will be the final nail in the coffin.

It's very dead.
But worse -
it'll be around for a long time as an AI training honey pot.
Most of the front page posts are auto-generated bait by bots to pull in engagement. Same questions asked in the same subs almost every month:
- What's the game you enjoy the no one else does?
- What's that movie you loved as kid that no one else watched?
- What was the worst date you've ever been on?
- etc
Every couple months - times infinity.
Whatever people answer, the bot gobbles up for AI to study. Rinse and repeat over months, and you get a constant stream of recent information about tastes and preferences.
Albeit, all by mouth breathing bottom barrel new reddit users.
Reddit will always have value as a honeypot for AI models. The ads are just an excuse.
That is the part that makes me cringe. I spent years in a smaller crafting community giving advice. Gemini answers questions in my voice when questioned about that craft and even used my small business sign off as a suggestion. I worked so hard to be helpful to other people in the community and provide a solid resource for beginners. I really feel used and have some regret.
Jesus that's horrifying. And I'm so sorry to hear. Even worse it can mimic others like that. I never thought of how disgusting that could feel.
I'm so sorry you feel regret. You shouldn't. Capitalism turns everyone into money one way or another. You were there for the community, and to help beginners. I'm sure they all appreciate your efforts. AI can't change that.
there is a long long auto moderator set that automatically removes stuff in posts or comments. Most individual subreddits align their auto mod exactly like the Reddit Admin's automod set of exclusions. This protects the individual subreddit from the Admins banning their group.
I used to like reddit because It used to be (or I thought it was) one of the most progressive social media apps.
But the open misogyny and homophobia nowadays is sickening. All I see these days are "Feminism 🤡" posts by Incels.
