The Trump administration is considering plans to create a squad of 600 National Guard soldiers who would be ready to deploy into U.S. cities to tackle civil unrest, according to a report.

As part of the “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force,” troops would be equipped with weapons and riot gear, ready to deploy within an hour under the proposals, which could cost hundreds of millions of dollars, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post.

Troops would be split in half, with 300 stationed at headquarters in Alabama and 300 in Arizona, according to the newspaper.

Oh god. The National Goons. Also, what about those Epstein files ( particularly photos and videos)?

part of the “Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force,” troops would be equipped with weapons and riot gear

So let's see, a sort of protection squadron with weapons... Hmm, I wonder what we could call it...

How about we use fancy German?

"Schutzstaffel" sounds spiffy. And "Waffen" for the weapons.

We could even shorten it to the even spiffier "Waffen SS".

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago (3 children)

We could also give them a cool insignia, maybe a skull so you know they mean business.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 8 points 3 days ago

Or a rats anus.

[–] Raptor_007@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

How about a nice Kermit the Frog?

[–] Guidy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is why it’s important for the average American citizen to be armed.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Well, it’s why it’s important that everyone votes and has more than two braincells which they exercise regularly but sure, after the whole place has fallen to comically obvious bad guys you can have a civil war, I guess.

Like, yea that’s where you are but it really is ridiculous(and telling) that the US feels like it is in constant danger from itself.

Trump begins forming a unit of loyal soldiers who are willing to kill US citizens.

No chance Trump just arranged for Maxwell to get out on “work Release”

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 6 points 3 days ago

She's going to be named Secretary of Education.

Trump is also going to commute the last 5 years of Jared Fogle's sentence, and name him press secretary.

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemmy.world 40 points 3 days ago

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this stuff always seems to “need” to be done when he’s in power.

ACAB includes any soldier who follows this traitor’s orders.

Do we call the Christian Nationalist task force that answers directly to the president the Pray-torian guard?

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 22 points 3 days ago

Civil war now.

[–] jojo@piefed.social 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hmm, this sounds a lot like dictatorship, but maybe I'm wrong...

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yes it certainly seems that way

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 3 days ago

Wait until the $200 billion they put into ICE starts paying off. This shit is just testing the waters. By the midterms, they’ll be talking about “illegals” voting in elections and turning the ICE-enforced police state loose on the polls to intimidate voters.

In Nazi Germany, the “legal” enforcers stood over you while you either checked voting for the Nazi party or not. Russia’s elections are similar. America’s elections have had problems over the centuries, but they’ve never been that. Not on a national level across the board. It’s the KKK burning crosses everywhere all at once.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Let's convince all those supporters of his who are 2A supporters that this is bad, and sit back with some popcorn

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemmy.world 27 points 3 days ago

Yeah it’s funny how the military always gets weaponized on civilian populations when their savior is in charge, but they swear they need their guns to defend freedom from democrats.

[–] rhvg@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Most 2Aers will happily become his SS.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Most of them couldn't make it through basic training without having a massive coronary.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Not really, a lot of them are pissed at Trump.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago

At this point I think it's pretty clear that none of them care about government overreach.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 4 points 2 days ago

Its called the National Guard. They were created to kill strikers.

[–] blargle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

Trump looking to create ~~squad of 600 troops to deploy across US against~~ civil unrest

[–] marsza@lemmy.cafe 5 points 3 days ago (7 children)

How much would 600 bullets cost?

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)
[–] marsza@lemmy.cafe 4 points 3 days ago

That’s probably true. I think the most expensive part would be the blade, but you can keep sharpening that – unlike a bullet. I think either would be acceptable, but certainly the guillotine would be more entertaining

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 3 days ago (5 children)

The point of the guillotine was to give all citizens an equal, dignified and relatively painless death. Too good for those fucks.
