So with all the speculation and uncertainty surrounding this event I really don't see any way to predict what will happen but in my opinion something like this could be a possibility and it makes me wonder why this whole thing is being done in the first place, it just doesn't make much sense.
- Putin and Trump meet
- Putin presents the same conditions as he has for the past 4 years
- Trump agrees but afterwards Ukraine and the EU refuse the proposal
- War continues and Russian infrastructure continues to be bombed and the Russian military continues to underperform on the battlefield
- Trump and Putin are both made to look weak from not achieving anything from their meeting
I personally see this as a pretty likely outcome but it still doesn't make sense to me from the perspective of Trump and Putin. Yes this meeting would be beneficial for Putin because it'd break his isolation and possibly result in Trump threatening Zelensky with sanctions like with the minerals deal. But would that really be worth it? It would show that Trump is not in control of Ukraine which breaks the Russian narrative and it shows both Trump and Putin as not having as big of a geopolitical influence as people think they do. Curious to hear people's thoughts.
