This is not uplifting. This is sign of imminent economic "collapse"

I missed four payments (the administration kept saying that enforcement would begin in June or July or something, but they started enforcing it on me in January unbeknownst to me) and my credit score dropped from something in the 830s to something in the 500s. I'm disabled; I'm not really making any money. I started paying anyway.

If you expect to need to have a good credit score anytime soon, such as if you're buying a car or a house or renting an apartment, that's a pretty damn good reason to pay.

Also, fuck them and our entire higher education system.

I really wonder how long they'll be able to enforce high credit scores once everyone doesn't have good credit anymore

High scores for the rich only. Just as planned.

[–] No_Eponym@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Aren't credit scores relative anyway? Your score is based on where you are in relation to everyone else with a score on whatever distribution the scores fall in. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Scores aren't but they are used relatively (compared with average)

Who da fuq knows. I think South Park had it the closest with the chicken voodoo ritual to determine credit score

If enough people ignore them it'll do some actual real damage to the rich bastards.

Too bad it will never be enough all at once to do anything.

Getting enough people to agree on anything, especially if it requires moving, and double especially if it will cause any amount of anxiety… is basically impossible.

We could fix the entire world if everyone just agreed to do a few things and stick to it.

That's the spirit. Good sheep. Keep up the good work. /s

More and more, not paying won't be a decision but a necessity anyway.

"When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty".

[–] marsza@lemmy.cafe 1 points 17 minutes ago

Nope, there are rules on lemmy.world prohibiting talk about resistance. Shhhhhh

Like May Day strikes. If people just went on strike for a week, all this shit would be in our hands. But we can't make that happen.

[–] marsza@lemmy.cafe 0 points 57 minutes ago

Well, it’s a strike until we get what we want. Not a week. They can last a week.

it doesn't need to be concerted, just hit a critical mass. as debt grows, there will be a tipping point.

[–] scintilla@crust.piefed.social 2 points 3 hours ago

I can't pay down my debt right now. I'm actively looking for a job for over a month with god knows how many applications. I've heard back from three places McDonalds, an entry level car repair job, and devil corp. I know I am not alone in this.
