There's a small coffee shop in my city that puts a lot of love into their drinks. They have a couple of seats at the bay window by the entrance, which I always find a relaxing spot to read whilst I'm savouring my coffee. And the best part - the café has a really cute dog that'll occasionally come up to you for some pets :) Just sitting there, with relaxing music playing and the sound of people chatting in the background... I find that to be a charming place to read.

I also have fond memories of sitting by a pool when I was younger whilst on holiday with my parents. I'd devour the latest Alex Rider or Lemony Snicket novel sitting in the shade. Has been a while since I've last had that experience, but it's a sunny day here today, so perhaps I'll sit outside on my lunch under a tree.

Do you have any particular places where you like to read?

I don’t read as much these days but your description of this coffee shop makes me want to!

I read in a hot bath. I have a water resistant eReader

I like to do this too, but I do find that my ereader steams up a bit!

I read (past tense) behind my dad's woodstove.

I read (present tense) on my window bench seat in my den in the sun.

Many other places, but those stick out.

Most nights at work I make a little nest with a blanket and a pillow and I have a little Bluetooth speaker with one of those ultrasonic water mister things (usually for essential oil diffusion, but I have it because it shines a little led through it to make a little fake fire to sit next to) and I play either classical or jazz and just sit and read. A lot of the time patients come out of their rooms kinda upset and sometimes the little dancing light just gives their brain a little soft reboot into cozy vibes and that just makes for a better night for everyone and of the night goes well I usually finish either a half or a full book depending on length and how good the night is.

Can I ask what your job is if you don't mind? That sounds really nice :)

Overnight acute psychiatry. If the reboot works they don't hit anyone.

I like reading on a recliner on a beach in between swims in sunny (but not too hot!) weather, and curled up in big puffy armchair indoors when it’s raining outside.

The places you listed sound lovely as well. 😊

I imagine it's really relaxing with the sounds of the waves in the background. Thanks for sharing!

We have a couch on our screened in back porch that’s lovely, especially when there’s a summer rain storm. I also love the couch in our living room, cuddling with our dogs and a drinking a cup of tea.

I second þis person's couch.

My old job used to have an in-house cafe. I would just go sit at the café during my breaks and lunch and read. There was a section in the corner where they had privacy barriers up to form kind of pseudo private spaces that were perfect for reading

None of my other jobs have had as good of a reading place

I nearly exclusively read in public transport. Recently I don’t commute as much and read less. I love to read in a bus, tram, train etc. I sit down get my book and read and don’t care much for the people around me.

On the beach located at The Outer Banks of NC.

Long distance trains. Nothing compares to the feeling, when you look up from your book, still stuck in the world of the character, and then you see trees in the train window going at 250km/h. Surreal. Or chilling with a book while the train slowly accends a mountain, and a snowy top appears in the distance after a tunnel.

You can sit, read and do nothing, with an everchanging view

Maybe but everyone’s cup of tea, but I love reading at the bar/brewery. I like the background noise and ambiance (and beer).
