Dems have the uncanny ability to suck so much that they torch goodwill even when the public hates what Trump is doing. Replace the geriatric fucks with your people who can actually inspire the voting base again, like a certain guy in NY.

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

How negative can it be if he keeps winning and doing whatever he wants?

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 185 points 3 days ago (83 children)

I mean, I'm souring on the Democrats because they haven't fucking done anything to divert us from this disaster.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They do seem to be pointing fingers at their voter base…

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, it's what they do instead of introspection.

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It’s our fault for not agreeing with their donors. Look at how many CEO’s and Billionaires Kamala is friends with, and Dick Cheney. She’s even friends with war criminals. What’s wrong with you?

[–] ImADifferentBird@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Worse still, they seem eager to contribute to it. Just look at all the 2028 hopefuls lining up to validate Republican talking points about immigrants and trans people

[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well the Overton window has moved so far to the right that the Democrats now sit where the Republican's did 16 years ago.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

And they're still chasing republicans rightward.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

They’ve had a bunch of long talks on the floor of congress.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 62 points 3 days ago

When they get the ball, they won't play offense. When they lose the ball, they won't play defense.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 22 points 3 days ago

Well, no, but let's not forget they did a whole lot to contribute to it. Remember Joe Biden? Yeah... We could have had Bernie.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 72 points 3 days ago (11 children)

The Dems are fairly low on my list of the blame game. But they're still on the list!

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 70 points 3 days ago (4 children)

They could do the bare minimum.

  1. Stop approving his cabinet members.
  2. Stop any finance bill.
  3. Stop any sales to Israel.
  4. Push candidates with a plan to stop kid rapist.
  5. Sure up their base with a plan.
  6. Say what you will do with the new broken rules.
  7. Abolish ICE
  8. Tax the wealthy
  9. Ban stock trading
  10. Ban Citizens United decision
  11. Expand the court or destroy its ass
  12. Rewrite the constitution

Fuck, pick at least 1 and I don't get paid $200k with life time benefits and insider knowledge.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Stop any sales to Israel.

Ha. They'll never do that. It's the only policy they didn't abandon when they got pushback.

They're very high on mine. They created the conditions that allowed Trump to take power. They've fought tooth and nail to keep everyone who might have been able to prevent this disaster away from the levers of power. The Democrats are the rachet preventing the rest of the country from stopping (or gasp reversing) the Republican-led march to fascism.

If Joe Biden had put Donald Trump behind bars on his first day of office for the January 6 attack we wouldn't be here right now. Everything good he ever did is irrelevant because he failed to stop the coup

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 28 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Everything good he ever did is irrelevant because he failed to stop the coup

I wouldn't even blame him if he had honestly failed, but he didn't even try

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 20 points 3 days ago

Why would he try?

The Democrats banked on the idea that Trump is the easiest candidate to win against, despite Clinton loosing to him in 2016. And it was clear with Biden. He wasn't voted because people liked him. He was voted because people were dissatisfied with Trumps first term. And Biden managed to fuck up so badly, that people rather chose Trump for a second round than to deal with Biden or Harris, who stated explicitly that she will do everything like Biden.

The Democrats thought that Trump is perfect as he lets them get away with being the worst version of themselves and they'd rather see another Trump presidency than actually provide good policies for the people.

Dems are perfectly happy with feeling smug in their political moral superiority and their insider trading. Why take power, and have to work hard? Chuck Schumer would rather compose stern letters to people who can't read.

In a functioning democracy this would be a great time to launch a 3rd party.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago

Unfortunately we wished for it on a monkeys paw and we got the America Party.

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

I would really love to see one, but there is none. The Greens and Libertarians aren't it, and the America Party certainly isn't it.

There should be a broad party with just these four issues:

  • Fix the broken electoral system
  • Fight government corruption
  • Restore the rule of law (hold powerful criminals accountable)
  • Healthcare

Run good, credible candidates for every seat on every level, and I don't see how you can lose.

Well, unless the media ignores you, which will probably happen.

[–] EntropyFlux@lemmy.world 56 points 3 days ago (13 children)

The Dems are like the Keystone Cops bungling around while a wannabe dictator continues to take America apart.

Even if the Dems had decent candidates, their strategy and tactics are ineffective.

It’s like we get the worst of anyone who wants to be a politician, either side of the aisle.
