Very limited use case of course (long-tube bowden style feed mechanisms aren't that common any more) but damn is it cool for that case!
I've got a Prusa XL and this is love at first sight for me. My printer is direct drive, but the filament feed tubes are SO long to accommodate the bed size.
same here with my direct drive setup - these long feed tubes are such a pain to manually feed, i've spent waay too much time fighting with filament that gets stuck halfway through the tube.
Isn’t this just a filament buffer? You can buy one on AliExpress for 10$
Link, because this is not what I think of when I hear filament buffer. This uses a motor to feed filament and it's a tool so you can use it on lots of machines with reverse Bowden tubes.
I just found this on AliExpress: $11.25 | Mellow LLL Filament Buffer For 3D Printers - Automatic Filament Feeding, Break Detection, Improve Print Quality For Voron Vzbot https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtdTiwv
Literally use one just like this to feed filament to the extruder - has feed and retract buttons and can also double as a filament runout switch as well
