He should've spent more time with Savannah rather than on the Savannah hunting animals.

Ethical hunters understand the concept of fair chase, where the creature must have a reasonable way to successfully evade the hunter. Clearly this was such a case, where the buffalo successfully outsmarted the hunter by goring him to death.

All in all, I call this a sucessful hunt.
