With Chevy making it a bid deal that they did the laps with engineers, and not pro drivers, it leaves open a reason to go back to the track and do another attempt.

Jim Farley, CEO of Ford did state that Ford would be be returning to the Nurburgring with an Instagram comment on Chevys announcement post of the lap times.

"Congrats to the @Corvette team. Game on!"

My guess is that Ford and Chevy are kind of trying to extend this, Ford will go back, and make another attempt, possibly beating the ZR1/ZR1X lap time, generating a ton of news for both brands.

And then Corvette will have to respond by taking an actual pro driver to the Ring during a nicer day and potentially get a much better time then they originally got.

Again generating a lot of hype and news for both Ford and Chevy.

Maybe it wasn't entirely planned, but i wouldnt expect a little battle between Ford and Chevy for quite a while with both going back and fourth.
