Were the PSU cables re-used from the previous power supply?
Recipe for dead components if true.
Came here to say this. Do not reuse cables from other modular power supplies.
During cv19 I ran a computer retailer warehouse. We were a SI but also sold components, pretty standard storefront for that industry.
One of our customers did just this, purchased a new PSU to pair with their prized Aorus Master 3080. Didn't swap a single connector, just plugged it all in and hit power. No POST, just nothing...
Most components failed tests on our testbench, was a big rip moment for that customer. We waived the diagnosis fees and quoted them on a new system subbing' in components from their cooked build.
It usually says right under the CPU heatsink, or right under the top pcie slot (under the GPU). I'm not seeing it under the CPU, so the GPU most likely needs to come out.
Would be nice to get a photo from under the GPU, commonly the mobo model names are written there. Other than that, what wattage is your friend's PSU rated for? Maybe the PSU just isn't powerful enough to run safely?
Another possibility could be that the CPU also got stolen, they should check under the cooler to see if the CPU is in place
PSU is rated for 750w. which should be enough for a 20series RTX card?
I'll tell him to check if some covertly yoinked the CPU as well.
I’m running a 12600k and a 3070 on my partner’s computer on a 650w PSU, so 750w is toootally fine for a 2000series.
Looks like an rog strix b450 f motherboard
Think you might be on the money.
Sadly bro got tired of waiting and ran off to Bestbuy for support without telling me. Thanks anyway!
No worries, I hope he did not forget to enable that little switch on the PSU. Everything seemed in order.
Without being able to see the model number label (usually not located far from the serial number label), it's really hard to tell. Also look where the peripherals are connected. Sometimes it's there.
can they temporarily remove the GPU to give you a better look at the lower half of the mainboard?
If you get a shot of the rear IO, you can probably determine what is is using the AM4 google sheet, though that'd be a bit long winded.
