Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

He thought he was promising to fund the IDF.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

I think this comment wins the Internet today, folks.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 60 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Obviously, he wasn't going to fund IVF. Why would anyone have thought that? He never said that.

Oh, you have a quote? No you don't. That was misinterpreted. Also, not real. Also, nobody is talking about IVF. Also, you're a radical Democrat Socialist Communist trying to murder babies so nobody should listen to you.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's a nasty question. No one has ever asked me such a nasty question before

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Don't you ever ask such a nasty question again.

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 51 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Are you kidding me? Trump coming back on his 'word' ? /s

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

His word is only good if you're rich and powerful and bribe him. For those people, he makes good.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Until the money stops or you inconvenience him. How many before thought they were the exception to the rule?

I have one idiot coworker who cited this as a reason she liked trump.

I'm unclear if she actually bothered to vote for him. She was proud of never having voted (we work for the county, that's basically saying "no" to the question "do you want to choose your own boss?" Like I said, idiot)

She's as far as I know, doesn't particularly want kids.

She's also a polyamorous wiccan divorcee. You'd think all of the "traditional christian family values" stuff would be more than enough to scare her away from anything having to do with the republican party.

People who are proud of not voting make me angry. It's one thing to quietly not vote because you don't think about it. It's a whole higher level to proudly declare you can't be bothered to care about the future of your country

[–] Ithral@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago

I mean, I know a few people who don't vote since from their perspective it makes no real difference who wins nationally, besides their vote would be insignificant, and locally just don't care so long as everything still works. And another who just has honey badger levels of IDGAF, like just ate a cabbage like an apple because he wondered what it was like. That kinda extends to everything peak zero fucks what happens happens. I don't think either of them are wrong exactly, they have no real pride in not voting just no skin in the game. I think that's true of most non-voters. Never met a proud non-voter. The closest would be a votes only for third parties on principle that the two party system is broken. Which at that point is still voting so idk

Some people are single issue voters. They only want one thing but ignore the rest. It's like being in love and ignoring all the red flags, despite being told that the person is planted with such flags all over the body. Single issue voters is one of the demographic voters that I detest.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 day ago

As David Cross said about single-issue voters: "You're fucking stupid and you shouldn't vote."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

As a polyamorous pagan, yeah you'd think we wouldn't have that dim of people wouldn't you? Unfortunately every group contains dipshits

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 1 day ago

Oh NOEZ! He backed out of a promise? Donald J?! How will I ever trust him again?

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The "father of IVF" strikes again

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

Right after he invented the internet.

[–] Heikki2@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

TACO fails again... who couldn't have guessed this would happen... seriously, did anyone actually think he'd do something that doesn't help him directly?

[–] 60d@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Pretty sure he fucked Murca at every opportunity he's had.

Also, release the Epstein files, faggot.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

TACO strikes again

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

it is at least an entertaining experience watching religious pro life individuals attempting to square the circle when it comes to IVF

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

I'm shocked, SHOCKED! Well, not that shocked.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Aww. Their felon rapist pedophile daddy lied to them again?
