He deserves it. Not many men could be such an inspirational hands on CEO for a half dozen companies at once while simultaneously being a loving and devoted father to his 20-ish children as well maintaining a insightful and consistent online presence.

Don't forget being one of the best gamers. Oh no, we already debunked that one.

[–] PleaseLetMeOut@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 4 days ago (2 children)

He's very well spoken too, just has a natural authority in his voice and never fumbles over words. In fact, he was supposed to teach one of those microchipped monkeys Quantum Physics. But he's been so busy lately, that'll have to be one of his later Gifts to Humanity.

[–] bobs_monkey@lemmy.zip 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He certainly always sounds like he knows what he's talk about and not just pulling shit out of his ass.

I'm disappointed no one has mentioned how heartfelt his speech was at the rally after Trump's second inauguration. He gave everyone a big salute from his heart, and there was so much cheering at the gesture, he did it another time. What an inspiration and all-around role model leader Musk is.

And such a full head of non-greying hair too!

If I remember correctly, Musk has stacked the board of directors with his friends and family. And he's surely also paying them off.

They aren't acting like a publicly traded company. The board and CEO of a publicly traded company has a fiduciary responsibility to the shareholders to try to make them the most money. That's why Twitter's board had to sue Musk to force him to buy the company. Because it made the shareholders the most money.

I don't own any Tesla stock, but it seems like people who do own stock should be suing Tesla right now. Musk is enriching himself while the business is suffering. How is that not embezzling?

[–] Makeitstop@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

There was a lawsuit over the previous giant pay package. And I recall at least threats of legal action over Elon siphoning resources from Tesla to his other companies. However, the move to Texas allows them to require at least 3% stock ownership to sue as a shareholder.

At this point, anyone who chooses to own Tesla stock is unlikely to sue anyway since they'd have to be completely unaware, an idiotic true believer, or just someone who is fully aware and is betting that the bullshit inflating the stock price will be able to push it even higher. The first two wouldn't know to sue and the third would only be bursting the bubble their trying to ride.

If you were somehow given $5,000 per day, EVERYDAY since Columbus invaded the ‘New World’ you would STILL not have a Billion dollars (please disregard interest and inflation).

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I prefer if you were given a billion dollars at birth and were a fraction of that for every day of your average 75 year lifespan you be receiving a bit over 36 thousand dollars every day.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 14 points 4 days ago

Elon Musk has a "net worth" of about $430,000,000,000. If that were paid in installments every day of a 75-year life, it would be an income of about $16 million a day.

[–] CalmChaos72@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Nice!

I’ve got one more I like:

A Million seconds is 11 days. A Billion seconds is 31 years!

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 28 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Remember, Elon Musk is doing what Tesla leadership want him to do.

If you don't like what Elon Musk is doing, then do not give money to Tesla in any of its forms.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Ehhhhh I'm not sure that's accurate.

Elon is doing what Elon wants and they have tried to talk him down (or at least Robyn and his brother have), but that's as far as they're willing to go. (Edit: I guess I should add, tried to talk him down/warn him about it being so public. Maybe they don't care and fully agree if it wasn't public)

They don't want him to, but they also won't stop him.

The outcome is the same, the board is useless.

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There are nine people on Tesla's board. Elon and Kimball Musk are two of them. I can't imagine the rest are anything but loyalists.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

They are all family, friends, loyalists.

It doesn't mean they agree with what he's doing, but they'll support him as CEO regardless.

The board is not independent.

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It doesn’t mean they agree with what he’s doing, but they’ll support him as CEO regardless.

A distinction without a difference.

Ya, I generally agree.

We should always strive to try to be correct though, as sometimes those distinctions do make a difference even if it's somewhere else at another time.

You start piling up incorrect distinction over incorrect distinction and eventually you have a very different picture of why or how something maybe happened for example.

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 27 points 4 days ago

That's good. He needed the money, poor guy.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

That poor poor billionaire. Im so glad they gave him some much needed cash. He was about to drop down to second place as worlds richest person on the planet. Thank God thats not going to happen...

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

good. now we know the "swasticar" applies to all Tesla models, not just the ClusterFuck

[–] jaykrown@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What does $30 billion even mean to someone who is already a billionaire? Must be frustrating to know how much you can't buy with money.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

it is; that's why he's so desperate to be liked.

[–] jaykrown@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

All the fucker has done is get more people to dislike him.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

that's what desperation brings. all he had to do was shut the fuck up and let people think he's a genius.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 4 points 4 days ago

Guess is going to be sued by investors and being ruled illegal as the 40B bonus the board tried to give him a couple of times before

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 2 points 4 days ago

It’s a participation trophy

[–] thedruid@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago

Meaningless.
