You cannot trust Microsoft to consistently provide your organization a foundation to get things done on anymore.
Technology
A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Not unless you're paying through the nose. Apparently, they've decided they don't need to get the youth accustomed to Windows anymore, and would rather let Google & Apple take the desktop market.
That suitable replacement being Linux
Install Linux, get it over with, dump Microsoft
Maybe when it fixes its accessibility problems it'll be a suitable replacement. Until then, maybe go with macs or something.
Edit: To be clear I've been a linux user for a long time and hate how they often can't get the basics right, and the snarky gatekeeperiness of the community who want to prove themselves better or something instead of helping.
Time to update https://endof10.org/ , LOL.
Annoying for the IT peeps that have to deal with this. Guess they'll have to decide whether it's worth continuing using the hardware with a replacement OS (Linux, ChromeOS, etc.) or more likely retire all the old hardware.
Anyone in the know on how many Windows 11 SE devices were actually in use? Seems most schools would have gone the more obvious route with something like ChromeOS for a "web first" experience unless M$ and vendors were pushing these things out at massive discounts in the first place.
“Why? Uh… because, uh, it was too hard to maintain a separate version. Definitely not because we want everyone on the main version so we can slurp up that delicious personal information from a captive user base”
dumping this one that specifically limited exposure to the trash bits of windows and instead launch a new variant for gaming handhelds that, while 'optimized' and limited in the crud that runs, will most definitely be focused on driving gamers to game pass subs and store sales.
