August 4th, 2025

  • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. 24mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Micromatic Open Comb
  • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (3)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Soap
  • Post Shave: RazoRock - Puros - Aftershave

I didn't ride the cap and instead used a more natural angle and was rewarded with no weepers.

August 4th, 2025: AA Day 4

  • Brush: Proraso - Professional Boar
  • Razor: Weck - Sextoblade Med Prep
  • Blade: Fromm Hair Shaper
  • Lather: Mike's Natural Soaps - Vetiver - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - 322 - Aftershave

Still taking it nice and easy with the Weck. I think the blade feels slightly better, but I wouldn't call it smooth yet. This is my first day with no blood and a comfy 2 pass shave is all I can ask for. $Rawhoggin $headless $monthofmikes

I think that the Weck is far less forgiving than a straight. A clean comfortable shave requires more attention to technique, imo.

I did try one briefly, but that’s not the first time I’ve heard that. Eventually I might fall down the straight rabbit hole

August 4, 2025

  • Brush: Zenith B44 28mm Boar
  • Razor: Koraat 14 "Moarteen" 15/16" Full Hollow
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - I, Rich Moose (Mutton -r/Wetshaving) - Soap
  • Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
  • Aftershave: Stirling Soap Co. - I, Rich Moose - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz - Sir Irisch Moos - Eau de Cologne

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

It has been a long time since I timed a "normal" shave; one where I don't rush and enjoy the shaving experience. 21 minutes. Brush soak time is not included. Timing started when I unscrewed the soap lid, included all three passes, thoroughly drying the razor, rinsing and drying the brush, and cleaning and drying the area around the sink. I typically allot about 20 minutes for this activity but I haven't paid attention in a long while. Given that all this fits with my normal daily schedule, I probably won't time this activity again for a long while.

The new brush is breaking in well. Still stiff, but certainly manageable. I did not notice any animalic smell today.

August is the cruelest month

  • Brush: Yaqi Rock
  • Lather: TGS Ambre Fougère
  • Razor: E. Jagger 89 -Blade: Astra Green (old)

You are probably excited to hear me bitch about Ambre Fougère. But, to be honest, no fragburn as of yet. It will come soon enough. And the blade is old and tuggy, and deserves to be retired with fellow scrap metal. Also, formatting is shitty because I didn't bring my computer.

But why, Porkbutts, can't you just take another blade, and a decent soap from your den? See, you heathens, because August is when we remember original sin, and it is dedicated to pure, gratuitous suffering. ~Unless, of course, the suffering brings us a shortening of our stay in the purgatory. ~

Have a good sight!
