“Council Member Inna Vernikov (R-Sheepshead Bay) has successfully gotten developers to shelve an ambitious bid for a rezoning, instead cutting the amount of affordable housing in half and building more parking spaces than housing units.”

Bummer

The problem with parking minimums in real time

We are thinking about converting a cellar room into an apartment and talked to an architect about it and he said: "Yeah, officially, don't make it a new flat, because than you need to have 1,5(???) parking spaces to go along with it, what you do is make it part of one of your existing flats and then just sublet the new room". It kinda reminded me of somone talking about how in some US (or Canadian?) hospitals they don't let you go after giveing birth if you don't have a baby seat (for the car that you obviously have). Carbrains 🤷‍♀️

...... In New York, where it's too densely populated for the majority to have a car?
