The gunman who killed four people before taking his own life in a midtown Manhattan office building that houses the NFL's headquarters had for years sought medical help for frequent, debilitating headaches -- including receiving injections in the back of his head, a person close to the man's family told ESPN.

He killed a blackstone CEO. This has nothing to do with the NFL, and seems more like a way for corporate media to shift the narrative away from ongoing class warfare. For decades the rich and powerful have lied, cheated, bribed, and manipulated our democracy into something they can control outright. The warhawks that ensure isreal has their genocide are the very same people that have taken a controlling market share of all homes in america, causing massive inflation, treating single family homes as investment vehicles while millions sleep on the street. Oh and these same people are also massively invested in for-profit healthcare and for-profit prisons. They get rich poisoning you, they get rich healing you, they get rich stealing your home and land, they get rich while murdering others all in the name of personal enrichment, and when you fight back, they get rich off of imprisoning you.

They, all of them, are heartless monsters, who will reap the whirlwind they sowed.

Might be an unpopular opinion but since chronic pain can drive a person mad maybe people with chronic debilitating pain shouldn't be allowed to own guns. Should be in the same category as mental issues. I have first hand experience with someone driven mad by pain.

That sounds like a great way to stop union members from owning guns. Oh you have arthritis? No guns for you. Oh you have back pain from working on a factory? No guns for you. Oh you got a sunburn from when you're outside striking? No guns for you. You'll make neoliberals super happy with this one.

Way to take it the complete opposite way. Let's never take guns then and keep giving them to unstable people then. Good job guy.

Who gets to decide who's unstable? Historically it's been the neoliberals and they've always Chosen leftists and black people. Those are the ones they don't want having guns. So excuse me if I don't trust your intentions.

Who gets to decide who's unstable?

Doctors, Independent Medical Mental Health Professionals, and to some extent prior personal patterns. Honestly, thats not politically motivated, thats just common sense.

The problem with that is that it's not currently socially acceptable to seek mental health assistance, and it's hard to get (long wait and high cost in the US at least) assistance when you need it. So people don't.

And for the second part, the first time may be the last as they go out with a bang. Ive lost family members due to the combo of these two statements.

But also, history shows that it doesn't matter that much for the higher impact/mass shootings. If someone is motivated enough, they'll find a way. It doesnt matter reduce the count as it reduces the ease of finding a weapon, but it doesn't make it zero and we shouldn't really try for that.
