A bit nervous. I bought a house with my long distance girlfriend of two years, we move in this coming Friday. We had multiple visits (some months long), and the house is like 92% in my name with an exit strategy for me to buy her out if we split so I'm not jumping in blindly or anything but I was ready to try something more serious.

I should be happy and excited, I worked damn hard and saved for years but I'm mostly just worried that since we both work from home it'll be too much of a good thing. I'm assuming it's mostly the stress of getting the house and all the paperwork and crap but it's still an important worry to work through. I hope you guys are hanging in there, all the best.

Serious posting???? I myyyy shitpost community???

But seriously… it’s. Complicated. Some things are going really great! My life has improved so much after accepting and coming out as trans! Or, at least my personal mental health has. It frustrates me that I’ve finally found a path that could give me some happiness and the country is going to shit.

Yeah there I said it, this country is a fash shithole. I can’t believe it and want to get out. But that’s a lot of work, like the ‘well of you don’t like it leave’ thing only works for like… a dinner party. Keeping a life together while fleeing a shit country is not exactly easy.

But I got my brains fucked out the other night and that was …. Exquisite

pretty bad. my emotional state gets absolutely wrecked for the day if I make the smallest of mistakes talking to people. I know how it's triggered but not why it's so intense. can barely bring myself to do anything these days cos of it

Lonely. I spend most of my time alone. When I am with others I still feel alone. I don't connect with the people in my life. No one understands me. It sucks.

How often to you socialize? Have you heard of Bumble BFF? My girlfriend just made a really good and potentially lifelong friend there.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

I don't socialize very often. I shoot the shit with coworkers, most of whom i'm indifferent to but that's about it. As for dating or friend finding apps I feel guilty. I don't have much to offer and I feel like a burden. I can't drive which is a big issue and I live in a small town in the middle of nowhere.

Half of a foot in nostalgia, another foot in insane possibilities, hobbies and tech, a hand on my family and their goings on and another hand on paying my car off and planning for my aging mother's death and handling the eventual fallout that will ensue.

Weirdly. I caught feels for a vtuber recently (completely unexpectedly) and now feel suddenly motivated to improve my life. It also feels like I got hit by truck with emotions that have been nonfunctional for several years.

Parasocial relationships are tough, as they can never be fully reciprocated, and dealing with that feels like it's going to be a bit stressful. That's also precisely why I'd avoided them and thought myself immune, but apparently not. Lol

[–] felsiq@piefed.zip 5 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, how does that work? I don’t know a lot about vtubers - is your crush on the character? On the vtuber themself? Do you know anything about the person behind the character or are they fully in character at all times?

No pressure to answer this if it’s too prying, tho!

[–] Enkers@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

Sure, I could try! It's still a bit confusing since it was mostly just entertainment for me until very recently.

It's a combination tbh. Obviously a lot of it is acting, and you never know exactly how genuine your oshi really really is, but their personality, tastes, and sense of humour all shine through. It'd be generally pretty tough for it to be a complete facade and for them to still seem genuine.

Then again, you never know. I've heard there were some VTs who did a complete 180 in personality, for example. I think it'd be hard to not notice some signs, but strong feelings can severely cloud judgement, so who knows.

The character's design and mannerisms are also pretty important, though. I think a lot of the time the VTs will want to play a character that's kinda an idealised version of themselves. If they see themselves as cute or cool or sexy, they'll play up those attributes.

As for knowing stuff about them, I think it also varies from VT to VT. Some are more willing to share aspects of their personal life than others. The one I fell for is quite open about her life, but I'm someone who highly values honesty and integrity, so I guess that tracks.

So I think to answer your question, personally for me it's 70/30 them vs their character, but that's my supposition. I imagine for others, it could vary quite a bit too.

[–] felsiq@piefed.zip 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

So if I’m understanding you right, your crush is primarily on the person herself and/or who she wants to be and the character aspect of it is secondary? That’s kinda the opposite of what my ignorant guess would be so it’s really interesting to read. Thanks for answering!

[–] Enkers@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

You're welcome!

Yes, I think that's generally pretty accurate. That's why when a vtuber graduates (leaves their corporation, that is) even though they'll have a new avatar, (usually the IP is owned the corp) they'll often still keep most of their fans.

Sorry, but that's a secret. I'd rather not publicly out my degeneracy level, dayo ne. (Even though my oshi is actually very wholesome.)

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Mostly good. Work is going fairly well but if things go as planned I'll be going back to school part-time starting this month.

I'm approaching my 3-year anniversary with my girlfriend but I ask myself if I want to marry her my answer is "quite possibly", which scares me. If I'm going to marry someone I think the answer should be "yes", "absolutely", "fuck yeah", or similar. She's wonderful and I love her enough that breaking up would be very rough for me and absolutely devastating for her. The fact that she moved in with me would make things even harder.

Oh and my country is being destroyed by a racist pedo piece of human garbage and I'm approaching fight-or-flight mode. So that's stressful.

Maybe "mostly good" is inaccurate.

Tired. I'm gonna get a sleep study, but I'm also low on time to do my hobbies, like music production or media history
