Im annoyed by ai slop Like Any other BUT DAMN, 100 downvotes just because of that??

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 4 points 37 minutes ago

Unless you’re indigenous to Canada. Then you’ll be killed or forcefully sterilized.

I'm not even going to look at it, I can tell it's ai slop from the thumbnail.

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 3 points 56 minutes ago

I don't even know what it is. Ive stared at it for at least a solid two minutes looking for errors. It screams AI to me but I cant find that detail that proves it. I hate that this is what sharing pictures online has become. Scrutinizing every little detail to see if I should care or not.

I'm old. Help me not fall victim to AI slop again. How could you tell it was AI?

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 22 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

it's the exact same style used in almost all ai slop comics lately. you can tell by face alone; it's almost identical in all of them, even with different features (like facial hair).

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

So these are 2 images I asked AI for, which are admittedly terrible. But beyond that, I'm unsure of the distinguishing features that pegs it as AI. Any guidance (other than never make these images again - for obvious reasons)?

[–] uzay 4 points 50 minutes ago

If you look at the details, there are signs, like structures or geometry that don't make sense or aren't aligned properly. Things an artist with intent would have no reason to draw that way.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 2 points 26 minutes ago

no, I don't know what you used but this is not what I'm talking about. you can find inconsistencies, colors that don't make sense, a whole set of issues but that's AI in general.

what I'm talking about a very specific style that vaguely apes the ligne claire style of comics, adding an old paper filter and completely lacking soul. they can have zero "errors" and still be recognizable because they are so exact and eerily similar in their style. there's a difference between a person drawing in a particular style and a machine emulating it.

You can see these comics on Lemmy from time to time, although it might be getting less common since it gets negative comments every time. I'm pretty sure they come from one particular comic generator. or possibly multiple that use the same underlying model.

They have the same soulless faces, usually very limited and recognizable facial expressions. i recently saw one with dinosaurs and even they had the exact facial expressions that I've seen in other AI slop comics. they also have the same faux lettering font for text.

The colors in a lot of AI images are very yellow

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 44 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I can’t even figure out what I’ve noticed about these things, and it pisses me off that it rings a false positive whenever I read newspaper comics

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Line weight. The round eyes. The color. The exact same smile. Same angles to the viewer. 45 or direct... There are so many telltale signs.

[–] fahfahfahfah@lemmy.billiam.net 15 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

There’s also no door on the bus

[–] Sergio@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

it's a trap! They throw you in the bus and weld the door shut! #theGulagIsTheBus

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 hours ago

Sure. That's an AI mistake. I was naming general thematic and design attributes, but composition and content also inform the aware viewer.

[–] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

When everyone starts using the same style, it's either everyone's hiring the same artist (unlikely) or they used AI.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 19 points 6 hours ago

Honestly the silver lining with all this is how innately obvious it is what it is currently.

Literally just reeks of the same level of effort as someone making a meme out of clipart or one of those boomers that uses that fancy Facebook status feature.

If you need to generate a hero image to make your witty tweet good enough to share, maybe go back to the drawing board

[–] HatchetHaro@pawb.social 79 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

ChatGPT-generated images are getting yellower by the day LOL

[–] eager_eagle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

nah, the poster is in Mexico, that's just the Mexico filter

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 33 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

What’s crazy is I instantly clocked it as AI slop just from the thumbnail, and I’m not even wearing my glasses.

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

It just all has a kind of bland sameyness to it all that once you see it you can spot it immediately in subsequent images.

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 47 points 6 hours ago

Can someone please get that slop outta my face?

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 36 points 6 hours ago

If you insist on posting Ai slop outside of the dedicated Ai communities please at least tag it so people can filter Ai slop out.

Liberalism: making sure to include that last line

[–] don@lemmy.ca 14 points 5 hours ago

We will, however, throw you into an El Salvadorian gulag with due process!

:/

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

So welcoming, that's why we're trying to pass Bill C-2.

[–] swagmoney@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

ai slop aside... wasn't it Canadian contractors that built 'Alligator Auschwitz'?

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (3 children)

I always respected that Canada is open to almost everyone...

Except if you have a DUI

I knew a lady that was a Canadian citizen but lived and worked in Seattle. She got a DUI in the US and they won't let her go back into Canada until she completes the long and expensive process that they require for DUI offenders.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I dunno, DUI is serious, you could kill someone. Maybe it is a long and expensive process to make sure people will remember it and not drive while being drunk?

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I always figured it was a good line in the sand telling some Americans, they are not welcome

drunk driving is serious and I respect that they treat it as such

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Looking at their rules for it, it actually seems kinda fucked: One bad choice years ago bars you for life unless you are wealthy enough to go through their process and hire lawyers, it's a even crime to try and enter, but that is definitely not a widely known fact, so even though someone might have paid their dues and even been completely sober for years, they're still fucked unless they're well off.

I get wanting to protect people and stop dangerous driving but effectively banning someone for life if they made a mistake and happen to be poor seems a bit unfair. You can bet your ass rich people have all sorts of ways around this that completely circumvent the system anyhow on top of all that.

As usual, it's another regulation that disproportionately affects poor people who are unable to afford proper legal representation to begin with (and are more likely to be falsely convicted of a DUI in the first place).

[–] null@lemmy.nullspace.lol 1 points 2 hours ago

Which rules are you referring to?

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

So, no forgiveness? What if you went dry? Gave up drinking?

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 9 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

until she completes the long and expensive process that they require for DUI offenders.

Sounds like there’s a path to forgiveness, it’s just not cheap or easy. Which, why should it be? She drove under the influence and could have killed someone.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I wasn't speaking about anyone in particular in this case.

[–] null@lemmy.nullspace.lol 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Then in general, why should it be cheap and/or easy for anyone who does it?

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

That's ridiculous. You can deny someone a driving licence, but you can't deny them entry to the country they're a citizen of.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like my ex... From Seattle. Does the word "Ace" mean anything to you?

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)
[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

Tall brunette, striking blue eyes. She did dye it blonde before I knew her.

[–] No_Eponym@lemmy.ca -1 points 3 hours ago
[–] chocrates@piefed.world 1 points 5 hours ago

I wish I could but I don't want to be detained coming back :(

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

The lesson here is if you want engagement, use AI, because the douchebags will comment in a rabid state and other people will appriciate it more than your shitty drawings
