Next thing you know you're sitting in the walk in closet shoveling pie in your mouth before your wife wakes up and notices you baked pie

Being able to afford a place with a garden would be pretty cool...

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I had a container garden on my 5th floor apartment porch. I can't say that space was cheap, but as long as you have some sunny outdoor space, you can grow stuff.

Some caterpillars infested my parsley and I decided the world needs butterflies more than I needed herbs, so I fed my garden to them and at the end was buying bunches of organic parsley to feed to them. Raisng caterpillars to butterflies was a real emotional and fulfilling experience, and the two that didn't make it will always be in my heart.

You could also look into community gardens. Not as convenient or simple as a home garden, but still pretty nice.

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

I'm always impressed by the massive community garden right next to a bunch of mid-low density housing whenever I go to a certain park. it's next to some tight old neighbourhoods with detached homes on small lots and townhomes/short apartments. the thing takes up more space than a small park and is clearly maintained and active.

it's nice to see.

What did I say about trying to repot the tomatoes after 3 drinks?!

I can retop the pomatoes if I want too!

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 42 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Wait... THIS is what those cross shaped bricks at the hardware store are for!? THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!

Lol, yes they're for cheap raised garden beds.

[–] ContriteErudite@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Right? I saw the meme, chuckled because I relate, but then I saw those bricks. Immediately looked up local gardening and hardware supply store to see if they have them in stock. This is EXACTLY what I need for my gardens.

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Yes, but also, for anyone unsure, you are supposed to fill the raised beds with soil, so they are raised. Usually the kind that comes in bags marked “raised bed soil” or you get it by the truckload and have it dumped in your driveway.

Not sure whats going on with these garden corrals. Do they think the vegetables are going to escape, or do they have a problem with turtles munching the greens?

you guys can afford gardens?

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Look at the aristocrat, just casually mentioning their cocktail!

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 11 points 1 day ago

Us normal folks have to work graveyard shifts at the anguish factory on fridays.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I normally just have the groundskeepers tend my crops, but the idea of doing it yourself is positively quaint!

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

That sounds lovely ngl

[–] pfr@lemmy.sdf.org 50 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Lol, wait till you have kids. They garden will be dead and gone and you'll be so tired that one drink will put you to sleep.

Don't worry, im too gay to have kids by accident, and not willing to intentionally condemn a living thing to this if we're not gonna take climate apocalypse seriously.

[–] dust_accelerator@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh my... it really just gets worse, huh.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I've heard a lot of people feel really at peace in the few brief moments just before death, so there's still hope!

[–] devfuuu@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

The sweet release from this flesh prison.

Also of note: When Friday night includes the time the sun is still out.

[–] sykaster@feddit.nl 4 points 1 day ago

Sunset is bedtime my dude

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

And I can arguably say you get happier though.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago

Life goals.

[–] NoPanko@feddit.uk 8 points 1 day ago

I used to think organise freeparties and be part of a soundsystem crew, now my idea of a nice weekend is a bottle of wine and an early night. Times change, do miss the parties sometimes though

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 2 points 1 day ago

I was doing this at age ten.

I kind if thought it was lemonade until i took a sip.

Or just not funny. I should go back to pedantry.
