Interesting thing about Agatha Christie... in 1926, 100 years ago next year, she vanished for 11 days, then mysteriously re-appeared in another town acting like nothing happened.

Evil isn't action without understanding; it's purposeful. Doing something "bad" without understanding is ignorance.

I think it's more nuanced than that. Whether or not you believe in "good and evil" there is a limit to ignorance. At a certain point, your actions can be so harmful that "I didn’t know" isn’t an excuse.
