ZR1X lap 6:49.275 (barely beating the GT3 RS, I'm sure the MR will beat this time soon) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic7qpuJtHK4

ZR1 lap 6:50.763 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20oDQHBrWSA

Z06 lap 7:11.826 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1yh7Ptrhwo

They used the American spec Z06 not the slower European one (emissions?).

According to Chevrolet, the Corvettes that performed at the Nürburgring were all U.S. production-spec vehicles with the only modifications being the safety equipment recommended by track officials. This includes a roll hoop, full containment race seats, fire extinguisher, and a six-point safety harness. All three vehicles set lap times for the Prototype/Pre-Production category since the ZR1 and ZR1X are not sold in Europe, and the Z06 was a North American variant.

I expected much more from a 1250hp mid engine sports car

The people driving these are engineers who worked on them and not race car drivers.

I’m sure there will be faster lap times in the future.

Some of these drivers hold lap records at respected race tracks across America.

Year the article went on for a whole paragraph about how experienced the drivers were, even if they find a better driver it's not going to get near the top of that list.

Is this context they were being generous. They drive them at the Milford proving ground normally and aren’t trying to set records. The cars speak for themselves here so they let what I’d consider an amateur set them.

90% of these peoples day to day isn’t driving or racing cars.

"GM also highlighted the experience of their drivers at the Nürburgring. Aaron Link has 800 laps at the Nürburgring while Brian Wallace has 425 laps and Drew Cattell has 600 laps."

Not Milford

This just sounds like an attempt to deflect criticism. "Oh I wasn't really trying", either put up or shut up. These are their times and they will continue to be until someone beats those times with stock cars.

Also the drivers are actually good, so it's a bit misleading to paint them as amateurs.

me too, the Z06 is especially disappointing here

GM is really half-assing this whole thing, like always LMAO. For context, this is slower than the fastest set laptime for the C7 ZO6.
