I thought this is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Cauldron_(film). At least that's the animated movie I'm talking about.
If i remember right it was nothing to do with the (ya?) Novel of the same name but based on en entirely different book, which confused the fuck out of my like 5 year old ass.
It's mostly based on the first book "The Book of Three" but some scenes like the three witches are inspired by the second book.
Yeah I remember trying to figure out the actual origin and being confused as well. Still a good movie though!

Ancient decent but not bad ya fantasy does not need to go in your pile if it's that big.
