This is just a tech bro pipedream, there is zero support for this idea in academia. It's just cynical stock manipulation, that or Zuck is drinking his own Kool-Aid.

Language models are not intelligent, they're basically a search engine that doesn't know what is true or real. We have no idea how to handle knowledge or first order logic in neural networks and language models are so complex that we can't even examine how they store what information they do have.

This isn't a problem that can be solved by increasing the parameters and throwing compute at it, it would require multiple Nobel Prize-tier breakthroughs in the field.

Anyone throwing money at this expecting intelligence, much less superintelligence, is being taken for a ride.

3 years later

"Well that didn't work, I sure made a bad decision there. Guess I'll fire thousands of people, now."

Zuck : Here's the superintelligence, you can ask it anything.

The People : Ask it to fuck off.

More like everyone is pitching in so that parasite class can get their toys which will be used against the working class.

If there in the future is a reliable and safe and private (safe from tech bros prying eyes) way to extend my intelligence, I would. Of course I would, why not? Instant Wikipedia level knowledge at your finger tips, having an instant understanding of quantum physics, having all these experiences, sounds great.

However

First of all, that won't happen for at least another 20 years. Problems that were facing now isn't even physical or biological limitations, it's not even limitations in our knowledge, it's lying cheating immoral tech bro's, supported by their groupies.

I'm looking at Elmo Musk, I'm looking at Marc Suckerberg.

We first need to get our ethics and morals in check before we even begin to continue our work on any of this. We need to dismantle and get rid of these giant tech companies that are currently working harder on destroying the world for everyone than they work on making it better. This "the goal justifies the means" attitude is killing us all. This "But we're already there!" is just blatant lying in an effort to become even richer.

Fuck these assholes

'Super intelligence for all' but instead of working together I want to be the one to control it all. That sounds cool and legit
