I have an older dog who is going senile and forgetting things and gets easily distracted. My other dog helps the older dog find her way back into the house from the backyard.

My cat would pull me out of nightmares by purring super loudly right onto my heart.
I really like this! Do you think they knew?
Definitely. He would only do it when i was in a nightmare, i was likely making some noises. He’d climb on top of my chest and purr right into it, louder than I’ve heard any other times. So I’d wake up to that and it was so sweet. And this happened like 10 times over several years. He always slept next to me. We were super close for the 14 years since I adopted him from someone who was too busy to care for him.
My cat yells and stares at my sister at night around when it's time for her to go to bed, following her around until she finally goes to her room and settles into bed. Then he comes and curls up beside me on the couch until I choose to go to bed, transitioning himself to a chair in my room when I do.
This is pretty consistent every night. Puts her to bed, then comes and hangs out with me; but never pesters me to go to bed. (doors are left open, he can wander freely all day/night)
My dog is technically my family's dog. Nobody is fooled by this, I'm his favorite.
Post-Covid-restrictions, when I went from home all the time to coming home from work, his routine changed, too. Instead of lying on the bed all day, sauntering down to eat, then lying back down to nap some more, his new routine added: celebrate Dad coming home.
This dog-shaped pillow developed a dance routine and his little nails would tap out a ferocious rhythm as he greeted me at the front door, then come up to me, head tilted just slightly down so I could pet him.
No one else in my life has ever been that unbelievably happy to see me. ..
Cats are trained to get brushed in the morning when I first wake up. I'm so stiff I can barely move and usually wake up to cold sweat level pain. Instead of a proper attempt at stretching on a mat. I brush the cats. The both know their spot and they show up every day. It beats the monotony of stretching for the sake of it and has the same basic result.
When you're extremely sad all of a sudden, e.g. surprise bereavement, the cats all gather round you and cuddle up to try and make it better. Even the cat which doesn't like the other cats joins in.
My cat would keep me company while I worked at my desk.
My partner's cat would always be waiting at the door when she got home.
