They will do anything to keep the metric system out.

If I were a teenager again, I'd be headed straight to all the grocery stores in town.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Hell, when I was an Oklahoman teen you just had to know which store to buy at. Need cigs? Hotel at 51st and Harvard got a machine.

And that' why we were healthy! You had to ride to get your buzz on! (I'm only partially joking.)

I’ve had middle schoolers tell me which gas stations will give you vapes. And gotten in trouble with principals for trying to shut down kiddy drug rings…

If the clerk didn't sell, we'd find a homeless person usually. Fee was 2-3 cigarettes.

😆 Yep! Still there? I threw my 17th birthday party there. Teachers, parents, everyone knew. Terrible opsec. We got busted and kicked out. TWICE.

Gods, I had completely forgotten that. What a night!

[–] frostysauce@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, it's still there! I doubt the cigarette machine still is, lol. I had to move into a motel recently and that was one I looked up. But I drive past there all the time for work and that motel and the QT in front of it are not my scene, lol.

Nice! 56th and Marion is my old hood, grew up there. By the time I left Tulsa the place was known as a place to pick up cougars. LOL, I was too young but I tried one night!

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah we had our sources too ;-)

[–] frog@feddit.uk 4 points 2 days ago

Better get that production number before you randomly buy cans like lotto players.

Let's be real here. They're recalling it because it isn't called "Fahrenheit". Get an education system, USA.

How tf does this even happen

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 19 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Someone pressed the wrong button

[–] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 11 points 2 days ago

Or loaded a wrong roll (or whatever) of labels

[–] Natanael 1 points 1 day ago

Same supplier for cans / labels. Sometimes even the same packing / mixing (/ and something also brewing) plant. It's slightly more common with mislabeled soda. Alcohol is supposed to monitored and checked more closely before delivery.

interesting way to start a Saturday, not sure if being productive or drunk? drink the surprise beverage

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Huh. I thought Celsius was an alcoholic drink already. That's kind of the usual can size for those while energy drinks usually are Monster sized. Some exceptions if course, like Red Bull, but generally across the board those sizes are standardized for lack of a better descriptor.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Reminds me of the meme I saw two weeks ago where a wife said her husband had been drinking a White Claw before work because he thought they were energy drinks. That shit's hilarious.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Who the fuck would enjoy a white claw if they aren't in it for the alcohol?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

To be fair, a lot of energy drinks also take like crap and have weird flavors and aftertastes.

I can 100% see someone making that mistake if they don't normally drink alcohol or energy drinks all the time.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

True. I rarely ever drink energy drinks but just the smell of a redbull nearly makes me sick, that could be due to some foggy memories of Jaeger bombs however.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Someone who likes flavored selzer waters?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hell, I liked Zima in the 90s. Low-alcohol tasteless seltzer-beer? Put me in coach! LOL, I might drink it today.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

You'd love to know it's still sold in Japan.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

like Red Bull

That's a big exception 😂

iirc, Red Bull is older and Monster came later offering "more for less" as a way to gain market share, so small energy drink cans are more traditional

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

It may have been there longer, but when I go to the store 90% of the energy drinks are in the larger cans like Monster, not the traditional Red Bull can size.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 4 points 3 days ago

Red Bull was first, if I remember correctly Rockstar came before Monster and started the 16oz cans.

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I don't know where you live, but I've only ever seen energy drinks come in small cans, like 33cl ones. Monster was the exception.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 4 points 3 days ago

That text on the image is written poorly. It makes it sound like the product was sent to the distributors after the recall.
