Honestly. With the direction things are going?

Democrats. Especially 'socialists.' Woke people. Though in disguise, at first.

And yes, this is salty take, but consider showing 2025 to someone in 2005.

That's already been a thing. It's well documented that super hero movies' villains all usually start as people who just want to change the status quo, but then do one ultra violent thing to make destroying them justified.

Even Thanos had a very real point, they just made him a monster by acting on it violently. But they never went back to "uh, but he did have a point, his world did literally die because they exhausted the resources". But how could you ever side with him when he violently acted on it, so his point must be invalid.

Repeat ad nauseum for most other superhero movies.

Not sure about the movies but in the comics Thanos is in love with Death, who often appears as a woman. He had roundabout ways of justifying his acts of destruction when he really wanted to do a grand gesture to show his love for Death. Because, if you have the power to kill half of all people in the universe, you have the power to implement some decent economic policies instead.

It's even more relatable when a villain really wants something people won't support so they change the branding and find a few examples to support their claim.

Hollywood has traditionally been rather socially liberal.

Just wait until 'uncomfortable with certain lifestyles' sneaks in as a Marvel hero trait, as Disney needs to 'address diverse markets.'

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

the movies, but not the actors many turns out to be quite conservative.

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago

Had this same feeling.

[–] JASN_DE@feddit.org 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Russians, Chinese, anything from the middle east that's not Israel... Anyone except the US basically.

[–] 11111one11111@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Come on now. You think Hollywood execs have the balls to turn down money from China?

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago

Which fragment of the US?

[–] remon@ani.social 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Unnamed countries that are totally not Iran.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

or a russian-ny sounding country.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 days ago

I remember seeing a 9/11 era comedy sketch about how the US government keeps changing who the bad guys are, and the punchline was everyone in the future worrying about the "evil Canadian empire". We're not there yet, but I can see a pretty clear trajectory that ends in us as a "communist" adversary.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 10 points 2 days ago

It's gonna be Russians and Arabs for a good while yet.

X-Men inbound!

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

depends on the genre, copaganda/military propaganda/us govtganda, mostly going to be ME and russians villians. even mcu/dcu are based on either nazis or russians.

[–] Libb@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

None. New gen Hollywood will be so politically correct that there will only be remakes of Bambi without the hunters.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

or bambi hunting the hunters.

[–] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'd totally watch a movie about Bambi hunting the hunters.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago

family guy version, shouldve taken the shot fatass.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

No, too controversial. More than the original, if anything. Hollywood is avoiding anything like that.

Bambi breaks no laws and respect's other peoples opinions about the off-screen hunting, and there's nods to "traditional family values" and how great the old days were because they know who's in charge now.

American/Western moral relativism has reached such heights that they already made heroic protagonists out of the villains of all popular stories/recognizable IPs, lol.

What's left? Mmm. Talking ethnoculturally, probably East and West Asians. And Muslims, of course.

[–] zxqwas@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

The Russians are pushing to take back the spot the Talibans took from them in 2001, meanwhile China is making a strong argument for it too.

[–] PhilipTheBucket@quokk.au 5 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I suspect that, just like Columbia University and CBS, some Hollywood movie studio is going to decide to try to make Trump happy by feeding him the kind of self-congratulatory bullcrap he loves to hear, and they're going to make a full-on big ticket studio movie about some kind of barely-veiled (if that) MAGA hero busting heads to fuck up the evil Democrats. Basically along the lines of "My Home Village," absolutely equally shameless.

It sounds nuts from today's POV, but I think it's better than 50% that at least one is going to get made before all of this is over.

This. Expect to see feminist, environmentalist, Communism, and queer coded characters make a big comeback as movie villains. It's the 80s all over again!

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

mostly copaganda movies, or military propaganda to shore up enlistments qoutas like with the recent top gun(the primary military forum said they had a surge in numbers of enlistees because of the movie. and the enemies would be russians or ME, or POCs.

[–] throbbing_banjo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

It's not exactly what you're referring to, but "Twisters" - the sequel to the tornado movie - was pretty weird.

[–] winkly@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Chinese Robots

[–] 11111one11111@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

No real figures is my prediction. Future villains will be made up sanctions that at best could be seen as narrative parallels to existing people/countries/groups.
