My brother is "the host"
My personal rule is to make sure it goes back together in better condition than when it came apart.
I usually see too many possibilities for something i can modify or experiment with and quick curiosity can be destructive.
Another personal rule of mine: slow and steady win the race. It may take me three times as long to do something, but it’ll get done as correctly as I can do it.
Edit: and a third rule: never force anything.
I agree on the slow and steady, unless you like doing things over again. For your last one I've figured out fighting nature is hard, and usually unsustainable. Be it human nature, or mother nature.
Oh my last rule was more to the point of when trying to open or remove something to never force it open or apart, lest you risk breaking or damaging the part. A small amount of effort should be okay, but if it still doesn’t “give”, look to see why (maybe you missed a screw or there is a latch or hook you missed).
But you’re absolutely right about Human/Mother Nature. It is what it is, and it’s usually better to work with it and not against it.

Same here. It's a healthy curiosity that leads to a technical aptitude that few people in the western world have.
I'm the opposite, I put things together that were never supposed to be put together like that.
Same. Today I'm sort of ITish as my day job, where I frequently void warranties for a living.

Because i already have more projects than I'll ever be able to make it to.
This weird old acquaintance of the family once saw me taking the back cover off of something once and got all fired up and giddy and goes, "I knew it! I just knew it! You're the type a kid who looks at somethin' and just has to know how it works on the inside, aren't ya?! Hah! I knew it!". I nodded. But I wasn't that kid. In fact, that was probably the only time I ever did. I don't know what the fuck he was talking about.
But as far as my thing.. I guess I'm that friend who gets weirdly sentimental and nostalgic about nature or the general atmosphere of where I'm currently at. I'm the only guy who gives a shit that there are crickets singing and has to comment on it, because the sound of it just brought me back to ten other vivid memories and feelings from when I sat there listening to them in the past and it's consuming 80% of my attention right now.
I am a hobby photographer, I am also a person who will turn onto unknown roads just to see where they lead, I am also the person who will take a day of my weekend just to test an experimental electric hydrofoil ferry.
Oh, and if you want to go planespotting with me, I am the person with ear defenders and fresh extra earplugs for everyone in my car.
I am the kid that loves stories and reading. My feedback from teachers was that I was doing well with school, but read to much.
